    Default Feared units.

Caesars gallic legions were feared for their reputation. The vikings were : the vangarian guard of the byz were, the jannisarys were, the huns were, the templar, hospittalitar, teutonic knights were also, o and also the swiss pikeman.I could go on forever.

My point? My point is that extremely succesful units should be feared by their enemys, and not because of their appearance. Say a army goes through defeating 4 armys at once, the next in line would be scared and run away at the first sign of trouble. Its realistic.

Ca should implement this, add some more strategy to the game.

Its a good idea, but I think it hard to implent in the game. Armies change all the time, units too, so what will determine if an army scares the enemy? Also, your units do not age, so this effect might be somewhat overpowered then.

Your generals already have ratings like dread and command and stuff, but i dont know if the AI takes this into account when deciding to fight or to run?
You don't need to lose it, to know that you had it.

Well the scaring effect don't has to arise during succesful battles, it can come from scratch. Like flaming arrows and siege equipment already have a moral lowering effect on enemy troops...

The original MTW did allow you to make units fear others, Cavalry for example were terrified of Camels and there was a handy column for this, we will see when its released.

Dread lowers their moral I think (?). I'm pretty happy with the vices and virtues system, as long as they stop overdoing the amount of V&V's your generals get and make them related to what actually happened in the game.

Not exactly, some V/V's wich increase dread also lower your units' morale, such the 'no mercy' vice. The reasoning is that since you execute all your prisoners, your troops don't get a share in the ransom, because there isn't any. Though if you do it enough, or execute 1,000 prisoners in one go, you'll immediately get a V/V that increases your dread a LOT without morale penalty.

Dread itself doesn't lower troops' morale of either you or the enemy, it just scares populations into submission AFAIK.

Speaking of wich, I hope prisoner ransoming is back.

It is. Supposedly ransoming prisoners raises a general's chivalry and imparts a morale bonus to his army, whereas executing prisoners raises his dread and imposes a morale penalty on the enemy.

Well I'd say RTW actually had it down pat as far as gameplay, and and not down to nittygritty micromanaging details.

Your general has stars wich enhances his troops, when he dies usually a lesser general will take his place. Thus representing troops that were past thier retirement leaving due to being loyal to that general and many of them being replaced by new recruits to fill the slots.

That's how it was in MTW. But some interviews (maybe someone can find a quote) indicate that in M2TW, dread will have an effect on opponents' morale.

i think their should be a last stand attribute. when youre in a province that has no escape will the soldiers fight to death, atleast the elites.

Of course, it will be rather rare that an army would so landlocked that no escape is possible. The question is should this also apply if an army is attacked when its movement points are spend?

So in effect we would like (probably a more limited range) of vices and virtues for our units... agreed Y/N?
