Dunno what a malmady is but it did happen in Italy though, there the us troops had the order to beat surrendering gemans to death with the back of their rifle.

Hum, you can’t compare as you stated “individual act of retaliation” and systematic slaughter of war prisoners like the SS started from the beginning of the war (Dunkirk against the English, Gamblou against the French).
However, I find the mistake quite funny…
