    Default New rig

I'm not much of the computer wiz kid, but from what limited knowledge I gathered, I believe this ought to be pretty decent. I'm hoping for some opinions or comments from those of you here at the Org with some more know-how.

If you have some more cash, splash it on a Creative Audigy soundcard or extra 1 GBs (512 x 2 would be better) will make you the happiest gamer on the planet.

Oh man, sweet. That's so encouraging. I don't know if I'll be able to go for the extra gig of RAM just yet, but it is possible to add that later right? And if so, is it a relatively simple process? If I do happen to get it, which would be a better choice?

    2048 MB (512MBx4) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY

    2048 MB (1GBx2) PC3200 400MHz Dual Channel DDR MEMORY

Also, what's the advantage of having 2 video cards? If later on the need arises, will a 7600GT coupled with the one I've got give me what I need?

Thanks for the feedback guys, appreciate it .

I got mine for $265, but I've seen it go a lot higher, well over $300.

Wonderland, get 2 modules of 1GB for now, that will do the Dual DDR trick already. What's more you will have free slots in case you make some more expansion, or in some emergency situations that you can exchange modules, try sockets etc.

It is an easy process. You can find loads of short descriptions with pics in case you want to do it yourself -that is what I advice to every PC user.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I know that two video card setup (that is "SLI" for Nvidia video cards) increases your gaming performance around %40s -this may be higher, I did not update what I knew about it. However I also heard that ATI 's Crossfire technology has superioties over Nvidia 's SLI which are both the use of two video cards in a system.

My future rig will have a double 7900GTX 512MB which results in a total SLI memory of 1024MB. I will be a very happy gamer.

    Uhm, what's Hyper Transport Technology?

    Thanks LEN.

Doc, I'm getting mine from CyberPowerPC.com

Yikes edyz, that's sounding like a monster set up. Hope I can upgrade to something similar in the future when prices drop for the 7900 512mb.

ATI x1900 cross fire techonlogy eats any nvida card. Same MB as a duel 7900GTX just ATI make better cards.

    Enough said.

Wahoo, I just got the 2 gig setup instead of the original 1 gig, so now I'll be runnin with 1GBx2 . I was looking to maybe get the 7900GTX with 512mb but holy hell, it was almost twice as much as the gt 256mb, so not that much worth it I assume. I can always get another when prices drop.

Thanks again for the feedback folks.

    Congrats on the new PC.

Its always good to get a new and shiny toy to play with.

How is it working for you?

I have heard some real horror stories about CyberPowerPC and since I am buying a new PC in July/August I am very curious about how it works out for you.

    Yep, I'm jealous...
