    Default 1944 D-day

    http://www.1944game.com/

For those of you who like your ww2 fps's this will definately cath your eye, a bit like Red Orcehstra in the way that it strives for realism, its is set on the western front during operation overlord you can play either americans, the british ( including commenwealth contries like New Zealand, Canada and Australia) The Germans and the French Resistance. In fact there is too much for me to tell you in this thread so just go over to the site and see for yourself . Its a Stand alone game and the development team is also making mods for BF2 and Half Life 2. There is no release date as of yet but, they are nearly in the beta testing stage.

This sounds good, maybe epic is a better word.

The detail level is amazing, for example :
    Can you flatten tires?

    Yes.
Definitely going to read some more about this game, starting with the FAQ's at their site.

Thanks for the link King Ragnar!

The best facotr for me has to be the inclusion of the commonwealth forces like the canadians and New Zealanders i mean it just rocks, another liitle rumor was that the Highlanders/ Blackwatch will be in complete with kilts : now that would be immense

If this game is an OFP in ww2 setting then I'd be very happy

Ideas look nice, but as ever I'll be more interested when at least some of it
begins to materialise as planned. Something that ambitious is unlikely to live up
    to expectations.

That's true, but hopefully this 'll be an exception on that rule

    Looks great!

Actually it looks so great that I'm skeptical about the whole game.

I can't imagine the awesomeness if they accomplish everything in their FAQ's.

I am in bittersweet bliss at the moment - the sheer joy at the thought of it and the despair that it shall never be.

Oh sweet goodness. That would be the most ambitious game ever (generalizing alert!).

I do hope they make it, and make it well. They seem to have some companies lined up to provide physics, AI, and terrain code.

One great Q from the FAQ:
Say a Canadian meets a female French civillian/resistance fighter.
Can he fall in love? Is it possible with "Intelligent Tutoring System"?

For the love of Christ people, it’s a game, yeah, yeah it may have happened. But lets be realistic, it’s a bloody game not a simulation of the complex behavior of the human mind.

Whoa... unreal. The beta seems to be not a long ways off, so hopefully the doubts can be put to rest and all will be as advertised. This is the game I've been dreaming of since I first played a game and found out about WWII... *tear*

With my new computer on the way, this game, M2TW and Roma Victor just over the horizon, I think my real life is about to take a big hit.

If this comes out even close to what they have planned I will be in bliss. This is the game I have been dreaming about since I played MoHAA once upon a time (except my game was in Stalingrad, but that may happen)

Are you thinking of making expansions?

Yes we aim to cover the rest of Europe, Africa, Eastern Front and the Pacific. We will let the Alpha members vote on what Operations we should do and in what order. After all you are the guys who will be buying it, so we aim to please.

Those expansions they mentioned are what really tickle my hot spot. If this game delivers what it promises, it truly shall be the WWII gamer enthusiasts dream come true, without a doubt. For some reason, I'm not doubting that it will deliver either. After reading around a lot on the forums and such, it seems the developer is pretty solid. It just may be a fact of life that we have the best WWII shooter ever coming in our near future.
