Last nite world cup game.
They say that the World Cup can unite strangers and divide friends. Well, last night just prove this. At 11pm (Vietnam Time), my friends and I managed to get the best seats in a bar, right in front of the the flat screen, waiting for the game to start. There was many beer going round and people became tipsy. Soon two camps were set up, the majority supporting Costa Rica and the rest supporting Germany.
The game started off and soon the bar reached to a fever pitch. Then, a German striker trap the ball and shoot it outside the penalty box at the left hand side. Ha, the Costa Rica fans thought, its never gonna make it. But NO! The ball curved and went neatly into the goal at the top right hand corner. Germany scored! 7 minutes into the game! I and the other Coasta Rica fans were shocked.
Coasta Rica started off with a new vigour, trying to get past Germany defences and its Blitzkrieg attacks. But finally, a Coasta Rica striker got the ball and he swept past two burly defenders and approach the goal with no opposition, except for the goalie. But with a smart trick, the goalie dived into the wrong position and the Coasta Rica striker simply lobbed the ball in the goal. Coasta Rica SCORE! Against Germany! 12 minutes into the game!The Coasta Rica fans jumped up and yell and I hugged strangers that I've never met before
My German classmates and a few of my friends looked shocked, that was impossible.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, the match was a disappointment for the Coasta Rica fans (we all went home with our tails in our butts) and the Germany fans stayed a long time in the bar celebrating. Germany won 4 - 2 to Coasta Rica. But the night was fun while it lasted, always watch the World Cup in a bar or a pub or some public place, its a lot more worthwhile.
