In response to Excalibur Bane's thread dissing the traits, I thought I'd start a thread praising on of my favourite parts of the game.

Gotta say I'm a big fan of the Comedian - or Frankius Howerdius as I like to call him

And the actor always makes me chuckle "actor? no sir, I am a thespian!" Gotta love those luvvies

Vandal Warlord.

Eagles Collector.

Superior Commander.

Good Cavalry Commander.

Everything I get is always about Command though.. How do you manage to grab Influence and Management 0-o

Dunno about my favorite good one (I like so many) but the worst one by far has to "Scares small children". It gives you -5 influence and -1 to public order!

A number of the more creative entries caught my eye. Remembering off hand, I really liked the "Glorious Fool" trait, especially in pre-battle speeches.

The best trait for a son to have when he comes of age is Sharp, it gives + 1 command, + 1 influence, + 1 Managment. Good start for whatever you want the little fella to be.

Old Sea Dog : +3 Command

Consumate Politician : +3 Influence +15% Senate popularity

National Hero : +20% People popularity +4 Morale of troops

Virtus : +3 Influence +15% Senate popularity

Its a shame the inflatable sheep ancillary is bugged in vanilla RTW, as well as the pet white cat. Where is a man who does not have these ancillaries in his entourage?

I just got a Victory in Europe trait for one of my generals in my Macedon campaign. Thats a new one. +1 Command, +1 Influence, -1 Personal Security. I promptly placed a spy in his army..

Sharp is a really great one.

I would say that genius is even better, +3 to all. Very rare but it can happen with the bug fixer.

Some other traits are the brave ones. I found out that letting your Armenian family members sit in a city with Vahagan temples, they are getting braver and braver. I had one that got "insanely courageous" +5 in moral, without hardly being in a fight. The description said something about "the like of Achilles and Hercules".

The Legenday Hero trait is very good too.
+2 morale for all troops on the battlefield, 25% bonus to your popularity with the People.

Traits...

Swears Like A Trooper:
Unable to utter a single sentence that isn't laced with the foulest curses, even this man's friends avoid long conversations where possible.

Boring Little Tit:
This man's speeches are so boring that his audiences would probably prefer death to more hours of torture!

Terrified by Barbarians:
The random "bar-bar-bar" gibberings of barbarians echo through this man's darkest nightmares…

Ancillaries...

Evil Mother-in-Law:
"And look at the state of you! A disgrace, that's what you are! To think that my daughter ever took up with the likes…"

Over-Protective Nanny:
"Nanny knows best…"

Upright: 300% increase to cost to bribe, +6 to law

If a member of your family has lots of bad traits (especially those relating to unrest, squalor, corruption), yet also has 7 or more managment scrolls and a good number of decent ancillaries, does that make him a good governor, or bad governor?

The evil mother-in-law but I found a general who also had a famous courtesan in his ancillary. I did not surprise me to find out that he was totally paranoid and quite mad.

I had a Carthaginian governer (Ribaddi the Honest) with this trait. He was also Fanatically Loyal (another 400% increase to cost to bribe). Now THERE was a sound character!

Drunken Lout is an amusing trait, as it can result in the pre-battle "Attack the elephants, men! Go for the pink trunky beggars!" speech.

Has anyone ever acquired the Senatorial Horse ancillary?

Check to see what happens when you move him out of his settlement. If public order and tax revenue both increase, it's safe to says he's a bad governor!

Nope. If the public order and tax revenue rise when he moves OUT of the settlement, his being there must have made things worse.

I like the "Solid as Stone" attribute! My Carthaginian General in Spain got it for holding off Spain and Gaul attempts at taking my city. Normally I am lucky to see "Good in Defence" even after loads of battles but he got it and more after just 2.

Think I'll give a special mention to "unhinged loon" since it provides some colourful pre-battle speeches.

Thats the one, vastator. I like it alot.

Severous and I were just discussing another one I found from the Extended Greek Mod..

Ruled by Fear. -5 morale, -10 influence, +10 unrest. And he's my faction leader, the big sissy.

Terrified by Carthaginians- This man knows Carthaginians are monsters in human form! They...Do things...in secret, when no one is watching.
