Demoted? I prefer the term "Enhancing the atmosphere of the Entrance Hall".

Dutch, I'm just thought I'd post something of some context since I'm not allowed to have fun anymore.

Obligatory on-topic answer: Yes, I would.

Actual reason for responding: I find it funny how non-Entrance Hallers are the only ones who post on DD's threads.

All I know is that the taking prisoners option is back. And yes, that is odd .

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

I think Dave frightens small children, horses and those of a delicate disposition, so no wonder the new members keep him at arms length.

Back OT; Yes kill'em, kill 'em all.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Thing is Dave, I remember when you were busted back to the EH back before the invasion of Iraq, and all you did was post politics topics anyway

As for execute/ransom. I very rarely executed prisoners, except where there was a good role-playing reason to do so. Doing it for the cash just isn't my style. I remember playing as the Elmos once, and fighting off wave after wave of French crusades. I had fought one particularly tough battle where the French Order Foot had caused me major problems. I didn't fancy ransoming the survivors just so I could fight em again, so I put them all to the sword.

Rebels also tended to get short shrift. Especially if the province had rebelled more than once. Then it was "don't make Daddy come upstairs" time....

Of course, then there is the flip side of "will you pay the ransom to release your own POWs"? My rule of thumb was if they had fought bravely and well and went down to a superior force, then I would pay to release them. If they'd fought like cowards then I left them to rot....
"I request permanent reassignment to the Gallic frontier. Nay, I demand reassignment. Perhaps it is improper to say so, but I refuse to fight against the Greeks or Macedonians any more. Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."

Ha we will bring the fun TO YOU. I don't like discussions, I like to spread racist propaganda and make sick jokes nobody gets. But if you want to make a most biased remark that is not fair and balanced at all, I am your loyal postboy because that is how I like them.

Huh, if you execute your prisoners you don´t get cash - that´s the whole point: Either you execute them and are rid of them for good or you let them be ransomed back to fight them the next time around.

And to answer the question of the topic in the first place, I sincerely hope that taking prisoners and the option to kill them is back in MTW2.
However, I would also like the option to choose whether to ransome them back or not after a battle, and not have to kill them on the battlemap. Maybe to raise the ransom, there are precedents, after all.

I second that as well. The likelihood of me paying the ransom for my guys is usually proportional to how well they've fought for me--particularly in the battle in which they were just captured.
