Default I just went HD and need some advice.

Yep been saving my scrill and dropped $2070 (after taxes ) on a shiny new Samsung 32" HDTV. See here, that's from the store I bought it from. It's freakin awesome. 3000:1 contrast ratio with an 8MS response time. And it has "game mode" that increases the response time and brightens the screen.

Here it is set up in my "home theatre". That's it displaying my 360 running Oblivion.

Anyway my problem is that the big ugly black and green thing on the floor (AKA Xbox 1) can also do HD. I really want to see GTA:SA, Splinter cell 3, and Destroy all humans in HD. But the 360 and the Xbox will both use analogue component cables to interface with the TV. The TV only has 1 HD component input on the back. So does any orgah know of an HD component switcher that's multi-in single out. I've seen one that multi-out single. And I don't want to be crawling behind the cabinet pulling cables.

But if a switcher is too expensive or hard to get a hold of I'll have to get a 360 VGA cable. Which i don't want too as sooner or later the 360 will get an HDMI cable which I do want to use. And chances are I'll get a VGA and PC audio cable and hook up my PC to it. Imagine RTW on that beast.

You want advice? Get a maid my neighbourly Haligonian.

A home entertainment setup as ostentatious as yours deserves the respect of a tidy atmosphere.

Clean that room or I'll be by tomorrow to pick up that delicious TV.

I know how messy it is. That happened because I had to steal my make shift coffe table/console holder to put the TV on. Reall it's an old steamer trunk my dad converted into a toy box when my siblings and I were tots. Now it's the dead console container. The current AV center set up is far to small to hold all my stuff and the TV. When I get the cash for a new cabinet set up and the old one comes out clean I will. But seeing as I'm messy clean is a heavily relative term.

Leave him alone, the man has bought a new HDTV, he has better and more important things to be doing than worrying about such worldly bothers as tidyness! ;)

And WHAT a TV!!! When I was working in a video store last year they had exactly the same TV s yours set up in the store with a demo 360, needless to say I did a lot of "overtime"... cough. Its one of the best TVs Ive ever seen. Great choice!

The fact that all 360 demo units had a 19" version of this TV heavily influenced my desicion. Sure I could have goten a Wal-Mart 32" LCD Tv for $600 less. But it would have been a piece of crap.

    Here's one possiblity, using DVI.

Here's another, using component video. Lots of other options on this site.

Yet another, a more consumer-oriented device.

Here's one that specifically mentions audio as well as component video switching.

Looks like the sort of device you're looking for is known as a "switcher," not a "splitter." Therein may lie your difficulty with finding the right sort of box. Hope this is helpful.

That TV is a wonderful worldly item and requires that some worldly bothers be taken into account. It's a luxury item and should not be left in an environment where it can be damaged by falling Cheetos and black holes brought about by the gravitational colapse of giant dust balls on the floor.

It should be placed against a wall with a clean space in front of it for minimum viewing distraction and maximum viewing pleasure. It will offer a more enjoyable viewing experience if treated well.

If no picture is posted by the end of the day showing that lovely HD TV in better living conditions, I'm calling the SPCT (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Televisions) and having it placed in a foster home.

    Mine.

...And I suppose you'd grudgingly agree to take care of the poor neglected thing for the foreseeable future...! What a guy!

No one is allowed near my electronic gadget with food stuffs on or near there hands. My borther spilling a whole glass of orange flavoured pop on the old internet PC's keyboard taugh me that one. Dust could be a problem, but not a huge one. Most of the mess is just my crap on the floor as it has no place to be stored. My ability to amass DVD's and games outstripped my ability to properly store them.

Against the wall may not be possible. Living in the apartment over the garage at my parents home I'm subject to der momma-furher's rules on decorating. Which means all TV's must be in a corner at right angles to said corner.
