Help me with bf1942. I'm beggin' ya

Hello this is my first post, I hope to learn a lot about the game here (I've had it for years but I suck, that’s why I mainly snipe/heal/repair).
Anyway I broke out my BF1942 and tried to install it again.
It said punk buster is there, but I know it is not. (I have an annoying habit of just deleting stuff instead of uninstalling it right) So common sense says to uninstall punk buster so when I tried I got this
"An installation support file could not be installed"

"The system cannot find the file specified"

So then I tried searching my computer for the word "punk" I thought if I deleted any trace of punk buster I could install it....I could not find anything to delete!

Then in an act of desperation I uninstalled bf1942 and the expansions. Then I tried to uninstall punk buster....to no avail, I got the same message, I went to Add/remove programs and tried there also and got the same message!
I'm running out of Ideas! How can I kill punk buster so I can install it again and play online? (I know you don't need it, but I don’t want to play with all the cheaters)
So can anyone and I mean anyone help me? I am not too good with computers, so I'll need Idiot proof instructions


Ps I've tried sending it to another file, but that did not work.

You're going to need to find the registry for punk buster and toast it. Is there no way to simply re-install punk buster over the old installation, though?

Well I fixed my PB troubles but now their is something more alarming


I tried to patch the game to go online....and it says I already have the doggone patches I tried installing the game in a new folder...didn't work (thats usually how I get around this crap)

Uninstall the game, punkbuster, etc (using the uninstall program ) then use this to get rid of all your old BF1942 and punkbuster registry entries if they are still there. Then just start installing everything from scratch and you should be ok.

To make sure you're up to date on PB, you can google punkbuster for their website & they have a manual updater file you can grab.
