Thread: 2 CTD's..

    Default 2 CTD's..

Sorry if these have already been reported, i looked on the board but i couldnt find them so here it goes.. Although i do kinda hope you already know about them so i can continue my campaign :P

    1. When playing as macedonia, and conquering some egyptian/selucid cities(can't remember their EB names since they're too weird :P) I seem to be able to build very advanced units if i don't remove their goverment buildings.
But if i try and click end turn i get a free ride to the desktop.
If i remove the gov building there's np though.. (uh maybe i'm supposed to always remove them, but i forget sometimes and then it's highly annoying :P)

    2. Still playing as the macedonians. I get a CTD everytime i click on the end turn button. I've checked every settlement i've recently conquered for enemy gov buildings,(i had one indeed so i deleted that one but it did not help.) And also checked all recruitment so that i'm not trying to recruit anything i shouldnt be able to recruit.. didnt help. I read in a thread about a turn end ctd, but i think that is a different one and the solution at the end of the thread did not work anyways.

PS: is there any kind of -blahblahblah thingy i can put at the end of my shortcut
to help in finding out what's causing the problem like there is to some(uhm prolly all :P) other games >.> i've tried searching for it but i don't really know what to search for heh.

Yeah, you should always destroy the other factions' govt buildings - you have 2-4 you can build, some very quickly. We can't force the game to totally destroy the old govt buildings, so we damage them 100% - and you need to just destroy them if you want to get the most out of this mod.

Are you playing on 072 or 074 build?

am definetly using 074.. the only other CTD i've had is the reinforcement one :P Should i put my .sav file up somewhere..? I duno how or where though heh :)

And yeah i know, but sometimes they are just damanged to like 60% or something like that heh.. i know for sure that that happened with a selucid lvl 1 gov building anyways..

Great, loaded a much earlier save. Played up to the same date as the last one where it crashed every time i pressed the end-turn button.
And now this game crashes every time i press the end turn button.. >.<
the year is 229 on both games..

If somene would like to take a look at the save file you will need to tell me somewhere were i can put it up :) Would be great if someone could figure out what's wrong heh, and i would hate for this to happen in the 1.5 port aswell :P

    A couple things:

    1) Were you playing a v.72 campaign and then upgraded to v.74? (there is a ports bug which isn't solved when this happens). If you are playing a barand new campaiagn in v.74, then this isn't your problem.

    2) Load up the game for the turn before the CTD, and do NOT activate the scripts (when you a click on a city and the advisor box appears, don't click on it). If the game does not CTD, let a turn or two pass before activating the script, and hopefully it will proceed normally.

    3) If 1 and 2 don't help, try the "toggle_fow" command (access this screen by using the ~ key. The same key also closes the screen) to reveal the map, and see if the AI is conquering Alexandria on the turn of the CTD. There is a know bug involving the "Alexander's Body" script. If this is the problem, #2 should solve it temporarily until you can conquer Alexandria yourself.

    4) If nothing else is working, we have a "neutered trait file" which can be used to test whether traits are causing the CTD. You will have to replace the existing file with this one, and see if that eliminates the CTDs.

Edit: To answer a few of your other questions:

    1) Destroyed and partially destroyed "enemy" governments will not cause a CTD. You should demolish them after conquering a city, as they allow for the recruitment of units you really aren't entitled to. This is an exploit.

    2) Here are the commands you can add to your desktop shortcut. There may be more, but these are the ones I use:
-nm = No movies (speeds up the launch)
-show_err = Sometimes (but not always) will tell you what caused the game to crash
-ne = Runs the game in "windowed mode" (helps if you are doing other things on the PC)

:) Great will be right on it. And i have never played v.72(started downloading mods when the .74 was already out ;) )

Hmm, thats weird, every time i tried to recruit one of those units i werent supposed to be able to recruit the game crashed.. wich is kind of a good thing though :P

And uh, i already have Alexandria, and no army is besieging it that i can see.
And also the crash happens before the AI starts doing it's thing, it crashes directly after my units that i forgot to move finished moving..

But i will try the things you posted :) Will edit this post when i'm done :P

    ---------------

OMG! It worked! i loaded the game and did not activate the script, and pressed end turn and it worked! and when the turn was over i got the trait/quest thingy to move alexanders body back to macedon :) so happy ^.^ And quite funny too since i have alexandria, and then the temporary solution should be VERy temporary no? :)

Just hope it don't crash the next time i press end turn heh. since i already had alexandria and it crashed anywayz.. heh. will go and continue my great campaign now :) *so frekkin happy!*
