Post Re: Day of Defeat: Source

I used to be well into the original DoD, but then I tend to switch games frequently. Never bought DoD: Source at the time though, probably because I was too addicted to the original

I've always believed that DoD was superior to MOH and its various expansion packs, even though MOH was graphically superior. Although the MOH 'lean' capability was good, used to let you peek round corners and pick-off a headshot or two on unsuspecting opponents...

The great thing about DoD is that I could literally pick up any weapon class in a short space of time. It was a bit of a pain once all the bolt-action rifles were hogged all the time on certain servers, and you were left with the crappy semi-auto rifles such as the carbine, where you need multiple hits to register a kill.

As mentioned above, the MG34 is awesome, simply because it hardly ever overheats, and you carry tons of ammo. Its downside is the small ammo box capacity, as you can burn through those rounds in no time.

I've always thought that sniping makes you too vunerable on DoD - you have to keep relocating yourself to new positions, otherwise face several grenades all heading into your hiding place On MOH, you could safely pick a sniping spot, and kill several before even being spotted and being forced to relocate.
