Spear charge bug?

Has anyone noticed this? It seems like most of the time, charging spearmen will keep running instead of attacking when they are face to face with the enemy. They don't move though, they remain in front of the enemy with their legs doing the running animation.

Then you have to select them again and give a second attack order to make them snap out of it.

They look right in the middle of action on the screnshot, but these spearmen have been standing there and running for at least 4 or 5 long seconds before I took it.
