Added. Thanks Spino. I also added a video of an interview with Ian Roxborough (thanks to Soulflame for pointing me to it).

Someone may very well have already posted this excellent fan-made remix of all the M2 videos I have seen so far, (and some that I, at least, had not yet seen) but as it is very good, and I'm too lazy to check through all the links in this thread to see if it is already here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cze1F2PFTmg

It's on youtube, yes, but the video quality is still pretty good.

I haven't been able to check out the new videos yet due to lack of time and a restrictive firewall. My apologies for the delay. I will add them next weekend.

    HI Guys,

Ten new screens up at IGN, some great detail shots. The Bridge one is just fantastic I wonder if anyone has an original MTW bridge battle screenshot they could compare it too

Am I the only one surprised to see trebuchets as a trainable unit? Shouldn't they be siege equipment with build points like a ram or a ladder?

No medieval army was dragging trebuchets around Europe, not even dismantled. They were constructed on site using wood from the immediate area and once constructed they were essentially immobile. Only component parts might have been carried with an army, like some of the metal components. But for all intents and purposes, a treb was a building. Hinged counterweight trebuchets didn't even have wheels.

I can understand why other smaller siege engines are modeled as units, since they can be moved and they can arguably be used against units of men in the field. But a treb is useless against anything but a fixed structure in a siege, they take too long to reload and once constructed have almost no ability to change aim in the left or right direction, only up and down (which was not easily achieved, either).

I can understand if they limited the capability of constructing trebs at a siege to factions that have built a specific building, to model the fact that advanced knowledge was needed to design and build them effectively. And I wouldn't mind this so much if I didn't suspect that the movement points for siege engines will be very low (as it was in RTW), meaning that having to drag these monsters around will significantly slow down your armies on the campaign map.

Game Trailers has HD videos for download without any kind of member stuff. I know it's been already listed but I just wanted to single out this provider's name after bumping into "hey pay me if you want better videos" messages on ritchie-rich-friendly game websites.

They have added the latest HUGE siege warfare video of which HD version varies around 110 MBs. Low-res one is around 35 MBs. As I just mentioned, you get crystal-clear HD video there for free.

In screenshots 11 and 12 on this page, it looks like they are besieging the Fortress of Masada. This was besieged by the Romans, not medieval people. (I think - correct me if I'm wrong)

The big ramp you see in the screens is totally artificial. It was built by the Romans over a number of months so they could get their siege engines to the wall. Pretty amazing really. This is a picture of the fortress today, with the ramp still intact:

The ramp is the big whiteish thing on the left.

This was done as a film, yes im old enough to have seen and remembered it from your picture, it starred Peter OToole as the Roman General assaulting it.

The Jews Threw Water down the side of the mountain to taunt the romans who were very short on water, and almost gave up the assault. Not to spoil the ending for anyone intending to watch this at some point, but there was no battle in the end of the seige o.0

Heres a link to the Film info
