What do you think is the best campaign strategy for any chosen fraction? I personally find that sending ships to roman provinces and then eliminating them early and then consuming the barbarian lands is the best for non roman fractions . for romans I find that the greek fractions give rich pickings whilst allowing for the later amagedon that is the takeover of rome.

Taking asia minor and the greeks lands as you said will make you for sure but want to be weary of egypt as they will come for you.

When non roman and I am say brition I usually go down gaul taking there settlements then fight the romans so if you lose you have space to make troops and not haveing to march more armies down. Also it's more money in your coughers so...

The guides section of this forum has a thread for each faction. That would be a good place to start for faction advice.

Generally I expand into corners. Once captured there will be no enemy left in what will now be my rear area.

Best strategy is to secure your borders and expand in one direction - preferably by attacking your toughest neighbouring enemy first. Try and expand into strong economic areas.

If you're playing up north, expand as much as possible before the Romans get you, then you're stuck in a war of attrition with them.

If you're playing around the med, go for Greece, Sicily and the coastal middle east areas.

Parthia - Just expand, use horse archer armies and expand, expand and you shan't fail.
    Scythia - same thing.
Roman - expand to Greece, regardless of your faction. If you can hem in the other Roman factions by this act then all the better.
    Carthage - go for Italy
Egypt - dominate the middle east, same for all other middle eastern factions.

In general, assassinations and spies will help you a lot, as will bribery if you can afford it. In fact, hire lots of assassins instead of troops and use your stealth army to cause havoc to the enemy's command and diplomatic efforts.

Head for water. Generally the Aegean, Adriatic, and Mediterranean Seas. This applies for all factions. If you're already on one of those places, take over people who are also there. If you're not (example: Parthia, Germania) head full-throttle for the nearest one of those places, otherwise you will be in mountains of debt. The more ports you have, the better.

See the Guides section for detailed military strategies.

Make sure you build up your farms for any province that doesn't have a port. At the very least you must construct Crop Rotation for every single settlement. Try and build those farms upgrades immediately after you construct the next public health building - the boom to your economy will be incredible.

Great Forums are also great when combined with Crop Rotation and the 3rd tier public health building.

It depends on what your view of a great campaign is, whether that's lightning expansion, reasonably fast expansion, submission of other states, slow and steady consolidation or anything else.

The general strategy, though, is to focus on economy for prosperity. A route to the Med always helps as well, due to the flourishing trade in the area. For example, the Scythians playing around in Russia for half the campaign is a no-no, as they will soon go into the red and be hard-pressed to keep hold of an overstretched empire.

-If you can, blockade your enemies ports. That is a giant economic blow that can seriously cripple your enemy.
-I also like to place a small army in one of the enemys states, so that the roads and trade get screwed up.
-I think that too much slow, heavily armored infantry is not a good thing. A good amount is perfect, but too much and you will get everyone on your team killed. But this could be just a personal preferense.
    -ALWAYS PICK YOUR BATTLES!
-Be reactive, be proactive. Set the pace in a war against another faction.
-Always be unpredictable, even against the computer.
-Go for an enemy's capital. That is always a morale crusher, because hopefully, you kill many of the enemy's family members.
-Like Tiberius said, the Mediteranean is a gold mine!
-Even if a faction is neutral, try to get trade rights with them. The more trade, the better!
