Um... I can't be of too much help on the Byzantine period, but you said your friend would like books about Greek antiquity? How about Greek military?

First of all, you can look for Osprey books when you want military stuff.www.ospreypublishing.com
It covers both Greek and Byzantine books.
Faisal, you are asking very much there my friend. I suggest looking at the 2 stickies in the Monastery for some help. It will surely help you.
I'll try to dig something up for you.![]()

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.
A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?
Haven't heard of this specific book, sadly enough.
As a fundamental Byzantium-related book, I can suggest Ostrogorsky's "History of the Byzantine State"

Although if your friend is a historian with a fair amount of interest in the byzantine era, he may already possess it, so if you're willing to pay a bit more the following two books are quite recent and very serious sources on Heraclius:
"Roman Eastern Frontier and the Persian Wars: Part II, 363-628 AD, a Narrative Sourcebook" (G. Greatrex - Editor)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/041...095235?ie=UTF8
"Heraclius, Emperor of Byzantium" (W. Kaegi)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/052...lance&n=283155
I didn't do any thorough searching, therefore it's possible that you can find better prices.

I think u mean "Byzantium's Holy Wars" by Geoffrey Regan.
Walter Kaegi's book "Heraclius, EMperor of Byzantium" is quite detailed.

Thanks alot guys
The 2 books mentioned by Impresario are excellent. The latter 2.
This is probably the closest thing, i'm not sure if Heraclius' Crusades exists, but i heard about it, thanks for the help.Originally Posted by Kataphraktoi
