Finally we are in !
Nothing really special, but untill second half of the XVIth century Polish army was not too different than our western neighbours, maybe except the wagons used in slightly upgraded Hussite manner.![]()
Okay, so it's a mounted crossbowman... with a shield ? And not a small one at that. I know horse-archers could manage with a shield strapped to the left arm, but crossbowmen...?![]()
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

nice looking unit, lithuanian pavise shield, small crossbow, probably also sword as secondary weapon, though I somehow don't like the clothes, looks so generic.
Maybe not the best unit, but it's nice to see that CA is apparently adding more variety to factions that originally got the stick in the ol' MTW. (Poland had only one unique unit)
Well... there was hardly anything worth adding when it comes to the Poles - if asked about 5 unique Polish units from Medieval period I would have hard time in answering and even finding anything...
Mounted crossbowmen were known to carry small shields, such as in the swiss wars with burgundy. The pavise type shield would have been used by the lithuanians and some poles so they haven't done that bad a job
I know an advantage of crossbow is that they are easier to combine with shields than regular bows. I had not realised that also applied to horsemen, but I guess it could (it would be less of an asset, though, given the vulnerability of the horse with or without shield).
I can't get see the new unit on the com (they never appear on my computer when they are just released) but it'll be nice to see mounted crossbowmen make a return in M2TW. I loved them in MTW - you got them earlier than the foot ones, their ammo lacks forever, they are AP, they have decent armour themselves and they are fast making great chasers of routers. I could nearly always find a place for a couple of these guys if allowed to recruit them.
Nice unit. But would a mounted crossbowman actually use a crossbow with a foot hold on it (the description says he has a smaller crossbow intended for use from horseback)?
Nice to see a unit that is quite plain and ordinary looking. My only complaint is that I could hardly see it, the background is too dark

looks like the horse has stirrups (which the rider is not using) but no saddle ?

Strange that it has no saddle. But the Feudal Knight didn't have one either. Only a protection plate at the front. Luckily they are modelling the fingers of soldiers, talk about detail, dude!![]()
Damn I can't find the 3D units anymore. What menu option are they under?
Under construction...
