good first half. italy has been the better team, so far. italy is showing more skill on the ball. anyone know what the poss %s are?

france's attacks have looked better than the rest of their play, but except for malouda diving or tripping over himself in the box (couldn't tell which was the case), they haven't actually constucted a finish to their attacks.

France needs to win in regulation play, because if it comes down to penalty kicks they're dead meat.

Big John, about 5 minutes after the Italians scored it was something like 63% Italy. It probably stayed around that way, maybe got a little more even.

Can't believe Italy's no. 5 wasn't given a red card for that knockout against Henry! That was the ugliest foul I've ever seen in football, even worse than the often mentioned German goalkeeper's rush in whatever year it was. Also the ref is clearly bribed, it's like 20-10 in fouls to Italy, but Italy has had 5-10 free kicks while France has had 1 or 2. Damn Italians starting the game by nearly killing Henry then knocking Viera, then fouling enough Viera to enable one of their tall but talentless offensive players to score by a header. Pretty amazing that the Italians, despite starting the game with the intention of killing Henry and Viera haven't been shown a single card while France have been shown one.

Edit: sorry Beirut I don't know which remakr was ethnic or nationalistic, I was merely commenting the football as I experienced it I've nothing against Italians, just their football team's way of playing football in this world cup.

well, italy won the first half, france won the second. so 1-1 is about right. italy has had the better chances, though. france has yet to put anything as dangerous looking as italy's attacks together. interesting to see the overtime, italy looked tired at teh end of regulation, though so did some of the french (zidane & ribery esp).
