    Default Defendable ports

I noticed that ports can have walls on the campaign map as they are upgraded--which implies they are fortified. This made me start thinking--what if you could garrison ports with armies like you can cities or forts? The more I thought about this, the more I figured that this could add a lot of strategic depth to campaign maps. Blockading or besieging ports could cut off the enemy's trade flow, but perhaps capturing them in battle (through a siege) and garrisoning them with your troops could result in plunder at the enemy's expense.

You could blockade port I think by standing on "port city" graphics.

other things - to my knowledge it would need changes in the .exe and so it is not possible. Maybe they(CA) first planned to do so, but abandoned idea?

Blockading ports always blocks trade for the enemy and for you, if your port is blockaded.

But for the rest, unfortunately, it can't be done, as naval battles can't be created.

In short, ports only appear on the Strat Map (like watchtowers), and you can never have a battle "in" one. Can you see it in the distance as you fight? Yes. Can you march or fight there? Never.

You can actually have ports on the battlefield, I've seen it a few times. Unfortunately, units can walk straight through the buildings...

Had a battle with a watchtower on the battle map. I was playing on Medium scale at the time. (Before I knew of huge) The small bit of high ground it was on gave me a massive up hill advantage. I've seen the ports as well, although they sit on land and look so wrong. They are a blatant error, since the Watch Tower was solid so I couldn't march through it, unlike the port.
