i actually liked post-syd floyd more than when he was involved. but without barrett, there would never have been a pink floyd. so shine on.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.
Too bad. The drugs probably didn't help much either.
RIP Tosa
Yeah, the drugs didn't help matters. But as an adult that's his choice to take them.
I wonder whether his diabetes was drug related.

Oh, my god. He's the only member of the Pink Floyd I ever wanted to meet.
This is the only death of late that has actually brought tears to my eyes. He and Jimi Hendrix were the two greatest psychedelic musicians who ever lived.

Don't worry, there are still plenty of burnt out, drugged up hippies around to worship. Now that meth is popular, the next generation of "artists" should even be better!!! Look at the glass half full my friend, not half empty.Originally Posted by Zorba

Poor old Syd, a depressing footnote to one of the greatest musical groups ever to grace a stage. Memories of Syd take me back to my college days when my friends and I would wind down an evening of drunken rowdiness by relaxing in a dimly lit room while cranking Floyd tunes into the wee hours of the morning. Tunes like Astronomy Domine and Interstellar Overdrive never failed to stimulate a buzzed imagination.
This part of the article impressed me the most...
Quite a generous gesture from the likes of rock musicians, a breed notorious for its delicate egos, petty squabbles and disingenuine thoughtfulness. He reverted to his real name, Roger Barrett, and spent much of the rest of his life living quietly in his hometown of Cambridge, England. Moving into his mother’s suburban house, he passed the time painting and tending the garden. His former bandmates made sure Barrett continued to receive royalties from his work with Pink Floyd.
