Default The EB Help Required Thread

    Welcome Europa Barbarorum Fans!

    I am tk-421, EB recruiter.

This thread is a place for fans to see what positions are avaible and needed within the EB group. Post here or PM me if you are interested. Note that if you volunteer as a text editor or description writer, this is not the best place to post your work.

    The current empty spots are:

    High Priority:

Scripters-EB has many scripts and even more will be included. At the moment, however, we have a lack of scripters. You don't have know everything about RTW scripting but experience would be nice. If you don't have that much experience it isn't much of a problem as long as you can be very active and are willing to learn.

Skinners- We really need more good skinners and modellers, especially those who are good with African, Arab, and Iranian units.

Experienced Traiter-We need people to work on traits. Experience with the traits files is very helpful (especially EB traits), but the most important thing is plenty of free time. A traiter would need to:

    • Collect historical research from other team members.
    • Produce new traits/ancillaries by translating historical information into the appropriate effects and triggers.
    • Research the traits system and work to improve it.

    Low Priority:

    Nothing right now.

Is there something you think you can help with that isn't listed? Contact me anyway. EB is always happy to see people showing interest and offering help, and perhaps the job you want might be available.

I've already PM'ed Dave about it, I'll spend some of my free time (not much of that) looking at the traits. So far I've already found a few errors, which I've posted in this topic.

Not a dev but afaik i have seen lots of ppl saying that descriptions writing is pretty much done unless you have some particuler knowledge (or a lot of spare time/good resources).

TK doesn't have sweboz particularly mentioned in the first post above - but he does say it in his signature. There are some factions that we do still need people, but unless the writer has some knowledge or at least a real desire and good resources to learn about that faction, there is not as much of a need.

I can help with text editing (I spent several horrible years of my life as an editor), some descriptions, research, etc. I also have a pretty good level of understanding of Latin. Unfortunatley, I am more or less programming illiterate.

Philos - our Getai people should be getting in touch with you, unfortunately things are sort of slow in some areas in the mod due to holidays.

Gazius - check your pm box for something from me, since I am the person along with krusader dealing with this issue you asked about.

Is scripting anything like writing BASIC or C languages? I can program pretty well in those languages. If somone gives me a little help I'm sure I could catch on quickly. I would be happy to help.

RTW's scripting language makes BASIC look like Assembler. The differences in flexibility are similar as well.

First of all: great mod! It's more than a mod, actually - it's more like a very good, very big expansion pack. I'm a very jaded hardcore gamer, but upon discovering EB, I had a 30 hour playing session. Not many games do this for me nowadays.

I'd like to offer my help with written text - editing new texts, or writing new ones. I'm a professional writer in RL, and as a matter of fact have written about 20 strat guides among other stuff. This may not be much of a recommendation - most strat guides are sh*t - so I'll give you my real name: Michael Rymaszewski. If you check, you'll find that the guides I've worked on are judged to be better than average, for what it's worth.

Let me know whether you'd like me to contribute.

I also can help with writing and to a lesser extent scripting. I will be receiving a BA in History and Classics, which I know is not a big deal, but I also work as a extra reader for 2 of my history profs.

I'm finally on shore duty, with a lot more time, so I figured I'd get off my butt and offer my services to this outstanding mod.

My R:TW-specific scripting experience mostly consists of flipping through the EB scripts and tweaking things for a personal minimod. I think I've got a pretty good handle on things, but I've still got a lot to learn about it. Nevertheless, due to the "constant need for scripters" I hear about, that's probably the primary service I'd offer.

I can also scrape the rust off my Attic Greek if that'd be helpful, though the professor who taught me was sort of a maverick, so I may need to relearn some pronunciation to conform to a standard; I'd also be very enthusiastic about learning to pronounce anything else that needs spoken. Corollary to that, I have access to some papers on Greek pronunciation that didn't receive very wide circulation at the time of their publication that the language team may find interesting. This is the sector I'd prefer to work in, if there's any sort of need for me.

Finally, I can help clean up text.

Since there don't seem to be a "help required" thread in the EB2 forum, I will ask here... Do you still need some staff for EB2 ? As many people down here, I love the mod and I would be very proud if I could help a little.

I am a professional modeler and texturer, working for cgi movies and cartoons for 6 years now (I can provide you with works samples if you want). Oh, and I am a History lover, sometimes doing reenactment, and I have even worked for historical 3d projects. I usually work on Maya and Photoshop, but I use 3ds Max sometimes.

Yes, we certainly could use help for EB II. However it may take some time until we start on producing EB II units.

Our unit coordinators are Urnamma and Aymar de bois Mauri. I think it's best to pm Urnamma and tell him that you want to help with texturing and modeling for EB II. Showing some samples might not be a bad idea.

    Hi.

It's not on your list but I am good at doing accents and speaking languages. I can fool people that I am french no problem. I think you could use more voice actors. If you wanted I could make a file of me doing examples of different world accents and saying phrases in different languages. Ive been told my german accent is 'perfect' (by a german) and french people have thought im french in the past. Some variation in the voice actors in the battle scenes would be good. I am willing to learn. Im studeous. Im currently a student and I study Pharmaceutical Chemistry. I find learning and speaking new languages fun and i think i could be a good addition to the mod. I have experience as a radio DJ for student radio so I have some background experience doing voiceover etc.

    hellomynameised@hotmail.co.uk

I have some good sequencing software which is excellent at altering the acoustics of recorded sound. I could get anything I say to sound like its on a battlefield no problem.

I have welsh, greek, french, spanish, german, panjabi, urdu, gujarati... friends who could be used to help triangulate correct pronunctiation. I can speak bits of Russian, Italian, Cantonese, Japanese, French, German, Polish and Panjabi. And probably some more if i think about it.

    Thanks for your time.

Forgot Arabic friends and being able to speak a bit of it which is relevant too.

Please don't think that I think that the languages spoken in 272BC are the ones people speak today!

Oh yeah I think the voiceovers in the first version of the game are shameful. The only faction that doesnt sound retarded is Rome but why do they speak in an American accent? The Cathaginians sound just plain stupid. The language they spoke was semitic and similar to Hebrew (according to wikipedia) but I know your language people will know much more about it than I do. Id be happy to listen, learn, copy then personalise. :D
