Thread: Modding request: strange lighting effect on strat map models / textures

Post Modding request: strange lighting effect on strat map models / textures

There is a strange lighting effect present on the following texture / model, here's a few screens to illustrate:

As you can see, there are several 'white spots' appearing in numerous places on the Gallic captain model (Gallic general is fine btw).

I've done a bit of research into a possible solution to this problem, but unfortunately I don't own a copy of the software to make the changes myself. Here are a couple of related links:

    Strat map character probelms

    Problem with Strat cas file

Obviously there are a couple of solutions from those topics, either to create a new gloss file (suggested by wlesmana), or to remove the smoothing groups (suggested by alin).

Many of the other models and textures appear to work correctly on the campaign map. They are all fine on the battlefield, its just the odd one or two on the strat map for some reason or another.

These are webbird's models and textures, but after having an initial chat with him, we couldn't resolve the problem.

Could anyone who owns a copy of the right software to do this job (my guess is 3DS MAX, but I may be wrong) please lend a hand with this problem? If you know how to solve it, please let me know, and I'll forward the models and textures. I can send the ammended models and textures back to webbird once this area has been resolved.

    Thanks.

No worries mate, I know how busy you are with TE development at the moment

Well if you get chance to take a look at the celtic lesser general model & textures for me, it'd be greatly appreciated

I've also noticed a smaller 'white spot' effect on ferres' / GODzilla's / Pinarius' Roman general and lesser general strat map models. If I also send them your way, do you think you'd be able to sort out the lighting effect with those model / textures as well?

Yeah its a problem that happens when you use most new models for the strat map, its a simple enough problem to solve.
