Hmmm in my country the politicians are just a scared bunch that think politics is talking about wether or not to talk about talking about talking about something, anything that mildly reeks at patriotism is sure to get you killed.

Agreed. Let's direct the conversation the way the poll implies. Towards nice, safe targets: Politicians.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

    Politicians:

    A) Don't care about patriotism.

    B) Let patriotism be hijacked by racist prigs.

This is just one of the many reasons neither Labour now the Conservatives can get more than 38% of the vote and the reason immigration is unchecked.

Here's a good one for you. The Home Office has now admitted there may be as many as 500,000 failed asylum seakers still in the UK, which effectively doubles the number of immigrants, up to 900,000.

I voted for true patriots....but truth be told very few of them are; But I didn't want to throw them in with the worthless lying majority.

Politicians on both sides of the aisle play on the strong patriotic feelings of many Americans, and use those feelings to their own advantage.

If I was a politician, I sure would.

They are only patriotic if they polls indicate that would yield them more votes. The majority of ideas are massaged to fit a marketing brand.

While many use patriotism for politics, many also feel deeply patriotic.

Probably more that use patriotism though.

Besides, what do you consider patriotism? Militant nationalism? Cultural Pride?

Well put, and I concur -- with the questions as well. Most apt.

hehe politcans. I dont think they know there are real people in the country
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
