I have not played them, but the guide for the Sweboz (I have been thinking about playing them next...) says that the general's bodyguard is infantry rather than cavalry.Originally Posted by Elthore

I am playing the Sweboz currently and my generals lack horseys...mean they & the bodyguards are on foot....it does suck sometimes (chasing the beaten)...

Yeah, the Germans have on foot bodyguard units, and they're murder to fight, especially when they have experience. They're like Gestae, only worse. You can pin them down with your best infantry for 5 minutes and they will only have killed 2 of them, then you can smash into their rear with your best cavalry and kill only 3 more.. Then they will mow down your cavalry before they have a chance to withdraw...
It really limits the distance the general led armies can travel and makes the Sweboz family members get the exhausted trait a lot so I think it sucks since I'd think the barbarians were used to travelling in forests and not being "confined to bed" so bloody often
Don't armies move at a rate determined by their slowest unit?Originally Posted by stalin
This constantly exhausted thing might be a problem however, perhaps the Sweboz (and any other factions whose family members have an infantry bodyguard) could be less prone to becoming exhausted, and get a set of traits to represent some ability to traipse around forests a lot? What do the EB official folks think?

Don't drive your men so hard each season and perhaps they won't tire on you as easily. Marching men to the limits of their abilities over and over is exhausting. That's why we have the trait.Originally Posted by stalin
