Well off I go. In a couple of days I go, bymeself to Boston Massachusets USA. Yes that hotbed of progressivness. Most of the time will be spent with family(so they can poke and prod there hick cousin) but I will have some time to myself so what is there to do in Boston? Is it really cramped? Is everyone really libreal? Will the Italians mug me? Are boots and buckles allowed? Will I have to cut a foo?

have fun. i was only in boston once, for a geology conference. i don't remember much about it. lots of revolutionary-war history in that city, though. so if you're into that at all, you'll have fun i think. iirc, they had great ice cream there.
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

It's a very boring city. Try driving over to Cambridge and looking at parties. The malls of Boston aren't that bad either. They have some very nice designs. Watch out for that tall building (Prudential), and also that building that looks kind of flat from certain angles.

No not everyone is a liberal, but from what I noticed a lot of the old people look like Benjamin Franklin (male and female alike).

If you're into museums there's a museum of science, and a pretty good aquarium iirc.

Other than that Boston has some really good Italian food, and some good Irish food, not that Irish food is really all that special...But meh it is tasty.

    Hi Strike!

You should try to get over to see the USS Constitution while you are there. It is one of the few remaining intact examples of a 19th century Frigate in the world. I am sure that you will enjoy your visit aboard, and take home some treasured memories. I went there as a child of 10 and still remember every detail of my trip as if it were yesterday. I also went back to see her again as an adult and she hasn't lost her charm. It is very close to some great Revolutionary War sites, such as the North Church, and Bunker (Breed's) Hill. I'm not sure if the Orpheum Theatre is still in existence, but I saw some great shows there back in my day. If the Red Sox are in town, get yourself to Fenway Park and watch them play. Maybe you'll see someone knock one over the "Big Green Monster" in center field. If nothing else, watching the "Animal House" folks getting plastered in the center field seats is a hoot.

We'll, have a great time. If I could I would love to join you as that is my old stomping ground. I could show you around, but alas, duty calls.

Shouldn't phrasing like that be accompanied by banjo music?

Watch out for the tunnels there. Specifically the multi-ton concrete slabs in the ceiling.

I know a girl who lives in New Bedford, not that far away. She doesn't talk much about Boston, but from the impressions I've gotten, it's worth driving out to Salem if you're already around Boston. I haven't been myself, but I know that an ancestor of mine was burned at the stake on a charge of witchcraft. I'll go eventually.

I don't think you should be laughing that one of your ancestors was burned as a witch.

But good luck on your trip to the North(You'll need it ).

How do you know the telephone was Polish? Couldn't it have been German or some other nationality?

From what I've heard from family members. South Boston could very well be an extension of the Republic of Ireland. Though I also hear it is not a good place for most non-Irish. That couldv'e changed, I don't really know. It would be funny to see the American city-types rib the stereotypical American Southerner (STFS). Have fun, It is a big suprise to meet family members you don't know. Really great fun.
