    Default I Have A Family!

Okay, so that may be a bit of a weird thread title without any backstory, but I'll fill you all in now.

I am heading over to Germany for next year as an exchange student. Until today all I knew was that I was flying out of D.C on September 1st and will be arriving in Frankfurt.

But, today I got a message on the answering machine from AFS (American Field Service) that they had found me a family and sent me an e-mail with their information.

So I will be living in a small town in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel county of Saxony-Anhalt. I don't have an e-mail address to contact them at yet, and unfortunately I don't yet know if I'll have any siblings, but hopefully they'll get me that information soon.

On the downside I have to come back for a year of High School after my exchange, but it'll be worth it.

    Congrats.

Try to find a way to get onto chat though.

By the way, are you staying there or travelling round Europe in the holidays?

Thanks Ser, I'll make sure I do.

As a side note we have hosted four students ourselves. A Norwegian in '96, and a Costa Rican the next year, who both worked out really well. Then we hosted a Swede in '98, but he didn't work out at all. And most recently a Turk last year who was okay but didn't really become a part of the family like the other two, and who was often too hung up on all things Turkish being better.
