Default Goddag og skaal! (hello and cheers)

I have just joined this illustrious band of heathens, cutthroats and imperators. I feel quite at home.

I recently started playing RTW and discovered not only this forum, but I have also ordered the Medieval War series. Very excitied about getting back to my Viking roots. BTW, Vikings were not all bloodthirsty raiders. Many were peaceful farmers. There were a lot of raiders in those times: Angles, Picts, Franks, etc. It's just that the Vikings had the special stealth weapon of its day: the longboat. With its shallow draft, it could easily sail up rivers and raid towns far from the seashore. Places like early Paris. In fact, the Vikings travelled as far east as Russia and navigated rivers all the way down to the Black Sea. The name "Russia" comes from a tribe called the "Rus".

And, of course, most know about Leif Ericsson's escapades in Nova Scotia. He was also one of the first unscrupulous real estate promoters. He called a place he disovered "Greenland" to entice new settlers. (Well, to his credit, it may have been green due to a brief warm period during that century)

BTW, I am playing RTW using an Intel iMac and Boot Camp to run Windows. The game runs native. All hail the Dark Side!

You MUST get VI! Then the XL mod for M:TW.

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

Welcome to the .org, brave Viking! Always good to see another Apple user.

You'll find some other vikings rampaging within these halls - I hope you enjoy your time here.

Was the tribe the Kievan Rus?

Also, wasn't it Erik the Red who discovered Greenland?

Word of warning too, stay away from the backroom in the tavern, it's not worth the aggrivation.

I stand corrected. It was Erik the Red. It was his son, Leif, who ventured into Newfoundland (Vinland).

And as to the Rus, yes. Read about it here at Wikipedia:

No Viking worth his salt visits the front room. For some raiding and pillaging the backroom is the way to go (bring some mead too! .)

I never said I was a viking. Which is probably why the backroom gives me such a headache, the stubborness there doesn't mix well with my or my people's attitude.
