In a straight fight who would win

I decided to conduct an experiment to see who would win if two units where to go against one another, first off I tested eastern empire peasant verses western empire peasant on a medium difficulty (I had heard that no side gets an advantage) just to see what would happen at they have exactly the same stats, my pre-match prediction was that that they would ether fight to the last man on either side or that about half way threw they would both rout. So I set them at it I watched the slaughter until about half way through when we where both down to about 40 men when my eastern peasants routed I tried it again twice on ether side and every time my peasants routed, I stopped the experiment there and then.

Pitchfork fury what about if it was british peasents vs german ones? It'll all depends on what weapon they have as some have pitchforks and some have swords.

Pity you quit. You said "either side" does that mean you lost as WRE and ERE no matter what?. Any chance there was a little bump in the terrain givng an advantage?

With units like this it seems that winning may depend on the captains position in the fight. To me it appears that he kills more quickly than the other men in the peasant squad. If he is at the side fighting then he has a major impact on the kill rate. If he is in the middle of it all then his kill rate is okay but he is likely to die and that can only go one of two ways. If he is at the back of the squad not engaged then his superior fighting ability is wasted and by the time the fight gets to him it is too late.

That might all be cr*p but thats what I observe fighting rebels and the like.

From the unit stats file, the only difference in WRE/ ERE peasants fighting ability is the ground modifiers. WRE stat_ground 2, 0, 3, 0. ERE stat_ground 1, 1, 0, -1.

I had far too much fun picking 16 demi-cannon on each side with no modifiers, deploying them at point blank range, clicking 'Fire at Will' and then 'Start Battle'...

When the smoke clears, the phrase 'Pyrrhic Victory' springs to mind...
