As mad as it sounds, I'd actually like to remove the beta temporarily to play the alexander addon. I thought a clean install would do it, not as clean as I imagined because I'm still left with BL city images, no big deal, but it would be good to know im only using alexander content. Any suggestions?

Just use a new install, BL shouldn't be on that one, unless you have done something strange. Have you made a back up of your rtw? If you did, you can install it over that one. Anyway I'd advise you to always keep a back up of Rtw. (I've got always a clean 1.2 and 1.5 version so I can install mods and play orignal versions.)
