Ive been reading some of old posts about this proposed mod and it sounds cool but the threads end last year - did it die?- or is it hiding in the hills?
one of my my mates does jacobite battle reenactment and so im kinda into the idea for this mod - i dont have the knowledge to do my own jacobite mod so any info on this or anything similar state would be peachy - i cant get on the net everyday but will try to respond asap

Well, if the thread has been abandoned for more than a couple of months it is reasonable to presume the mod is dead. Creating a mod is no easy task, and many never make it past the conceptual stage. If you want to play safe you could search for more threads started by the same modder. Or you could have a look at the TWC: they have less requirements for hosting so more mods choose to have their forums there.

As a fellow Scot, I think this would be a great idea for a mod. I'd be willing to help as a researcher - I could even do some skinning and modelling. I would not be fully committed to this mod, as I am already a member of the Medieval Auctoriso mod for M2TW and I need to visit those forums every day.

In fact, its for the MA mod that I'm learning to model in 3dsMax7, and I can already skin using Photoshop. If you want, I could start making some units - just basic modelling to help me improve for MA, but will be productive at the same time.

I don't know a whole lot about the ancient Caledonians. I know they were apparently strong in appearance, had red or brown/black hair, often spiked it and dyed it white or bright red. Apart from that - they were pretty similar to the rest of the British barbarians, even if they were a bit more barbaric.

Like I say, if you're still interested in this mod, I could help out with it a bit.
Unforunately, I'm leaving tomorrow morning to go on holiday for a fortnight, but after that I'll be able to help.

EDIT: Just read your post a bit more carefully - is this a mod for the ancient Caledonians or about the Jacobite Rebellion? The latter would be a lot harder to do, at least beyond my ability.

It was mainly a jacobite rebellion mod I was interested in, because one of my mates is a member of the white cockade, a jacobite battle reenactment group based up in blairgowrie (I think). It Hadnt occurred to me until i read your post that Caledonian total war was a bit historically inacurate as a name for a mod which i thought was about the jacobite rebellion - Maybe i read the old threads wrongly - I totaly agree that a jacobite rebellion mod would be hard to do, the time scale of the rebellion seemed to me to be a major stumbling block. Ive never had a go at moding and dont think my pc would be up to it, as ive only got 400mhz to play with, just enough to play MTW although big battles can be really sluggish - I like the idea of doing a mod for the Ancient tribes of Britain, i dont know if there is much info on them other than Roman accounts. Ive played MTW/VI which is fun, but only a cursory glance at the factions around Britain. If I get a better pc I may well try to to create a mod of the kind mentioned but until then I guess ill Just have to Play the ones other people have created - Im playing the MTW XL mod as the Lithuanians at the moment - hope you had a peachy holiday

There are already two of those for R:TW. Arthurian: Total War has reached beta stage. Brittainia: Total War: The Roman Invasion on the other hand seems to have gone inactive. For M:TW, there's only Age of Vikings and Fanatics.
