Boom! Bzzzzzzz.....

Just got the power back after 48 hours. A wicked storm blew through the other night after a day where the temp hit 118 degrees (with the stupidity). Ouch! Spent the whole day working outside. Gah!

It hit about 7PM Tuesday and tore though our parts, leaving about 400,000 Quebecers, including our entire twon and the neighbouring towns, in the dark. Two were killed (not here) and destruction everywhere. When the power went off I had a glass of vodka and sat in my chair by the window and watched the lightning show and the trees bending 45 degrees. We lost a few sections off the maples and one spruce went over the neighbour's driveway. He lost a half dozen on the far side of his house.

Sure enough, the phone went off the hook the next morning. We were doing hit and run emergency jobs all day Wednesday and today. Still a few more tomorrow.

Big clean up.

Part of the big clean up. The ones in the back still standing, but uprooted, came down with a helluva bang.

This one wasn't easy.

This one was worse. Right over the hydro, tree uprooted and nothing to tie off to. We secured the tree as best as possible, tied it off in a few places, then he went up and hoped for the best.

Back out tomorrow in the morning. A few more on the wires and more clean up. oh well, at least our power is back on and I can have coffee. (Not to mention get back in the Frontroom.)

Wow, that's a lot of downed trees. We got similar treatment last week with about 460,000 homes in the Philadelphia area without power, so your pictures look very familiar. Hats off to you and the hydro guys out there trying to return life to normal for the rest of us.
