Need Help!!!

I have been getting the message

Script Error in Data/descr_event_images.txt, at line 623, collum 1
Uknown event string faction_defeated_by_player

Now with my uninstalling and than re-installing and looking at these forums I have found the all the 1.2 patches I have downloaded were corrupt somehow.
Also I can not find any that work. I have tried Activision and their link does not work anymore. I was wondering if someone can give me a working link?

I have done it about 6 times so I am about to pull my hair out!

Bottom of the page lists 3 places to get the 1.2 patch all, as far as I know, work perfectly.

I have tried that about 2-3 times and I still get this stupid message. I guess I'll try it again.

I may sound like a noob but I have never extracted a file before I always used the run_as method could you tell me in detail how to do that. Because I think I am doing something wrong.

all 1.2 links from the EB website, if caesar14 is right about where the problem is coming from, are also corrupt because I cannot install and play the game either and Ive uninstalled and reinstalled 6 times now.

Its starting to make me lose interest in this mod. I have done it 9 times all together and still the same problem.

U need a good patch 1.2. I went to several sites until I found the right Patch 1.2.

Re-install Rome TW vanilla

Go to this link:

If the link didn't work, then go to www.activision.com.
- then look for Activision's Strategy games.
-You will see RTW, click on it.
-Go to Download,
-And find Patch 1.2

That is the one that worked for me. You won't find Patch 1.2 in TotalWar.com, and the other sites had the files corrupt or something.

We apologise for this state of affairs, though obviously we have no direct control over it, and we hope to have this situation remedied as soon as possible we some new download places for the 1.2 patch.

what????? Activision.com doesn't work????? type it in if the link didn't work.

The link does work, the downloader on Activision.com doesn't.

This patch will work. It is in a zip format (well .rar really) and all you need to do is extract the files and folders into the base folder of the RTW install (the one with the RomeTW.exe in it).

If this doesn't solve your problem then you will need to look elsewhere for a solution. The problem must lie with the downloading of 0.7.2 and 0.7.4. Please make sure you are installing on RTW 1.0 and not any other version.

I am! When I download the patch and than extract it it does'nt overwrite the files. When I go to start up the program to see if the patch is installed it still says version 1.0 the top right-hand corner of the options menu.

I have found a WORKING patch though their server is really slow.
