In the beginning of the unit describtion, it says this, which matches with the unit's skin.

They are armed with the traditional hoplite shield, and are armored with a metal cuirass.

But later in the describtion it says this.

They now wore the less expensive and easier to produce (in relation to bronze plate) scale or mail armor that only provided a slightly smaller degree of protection.

According to this, they used scale or mail armour. So are they going to/did use bronze cuirass or mail armour?

It says that they're using the traditional shield. Of course in the skin they use the older-style cuirass too, but mail and scale armor can both be metal. Actually I've never seen mail that wasn't leather, but you can have scale armor made of either leather or metal.
