The poorest man may in his cottage bid defiance to all the forces of the Crown. It may be frail; its roof may shake; the wind may blow through it; the storm may enter; the rain may enter; but the King of England cannot enter – all his force dares not cross the threshold of the ruined tenement! - William Pitt the Elder

I encountered some interesting bedbugs when I spent a year in Kenya, but they never bothered me that much. Must have been well gorged.

I picked up some good advice from a guidebook when picking a room in a downmarket hostel: avoid the rooms with small blood splats on the walls; they're tell tale signs of bedbugs (or ex-bedbugs) .

I think it is because people have been listening too much to people like Big_John - "bedbugs have rights too" etc.

Hey, bed-bugs (or more accurately Triatomid bugs that live in South American roofs and drop on sleeping people) are agents of God.

It is widely believed that Charles Darwin was bitten by one of these little lovelies on a field trip during the voyage of the Beagle, consequently contracting Chagas disease - a debilitating condition that led to his utter misery through much of his life and probably his death.
"If there is a sin against life, it consists not so much in despairing as in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this one."
    Albert Camus "Noces"

When a fox kills your chickens, do you kill the pigs for seeing what happened? No you go out and hunt the fox.
