This is my first post here on the org, although Ive ben playing the total war series since Shogun and have paid occasional visits to this site since then, so Im sorry it has to a technical question!

Recently I was forced to restore my pc to the factory settings last week due to a particularly nasty combination of trojans/spyware etc. I now find myself unable to install Rtw. The installation progresses through the three cds, up until the point it asks for the first disc at the end of installation. At this point the installation the program crashes to desktop without so much as an error message.

When I checked to see what exactly my attempts at installation had achieved I discovered that there was no trace of the game on my computer - the Rtw folder had not even been created.

The specs of my computer have not changed since the last time I had Rtw installed so I doubt that this is a result of a conflict there. I have been able to install all my other games (including Mtw and Stw) with the exception of Sid Meiers Pirates. I have no idea what is causing this problem so if anybody c ould shed any light on the matter I would be extremely grateful!
