    Default My dog George RIP

Today at 17:15 BST I lost the bestest friend a man could hope for. George, born April 92, deceased 21 August 2006.

He was a right character, soft as shite and loved to be around kids. He saw two generations of the Apaches grow up, my lads and their children. He loved them all.

He used to sidle up to you when you were watching the telly and gently nudge your hand with his nose, this always elicited an automatic stroking session. Many times I found my arm aching from stroking him, even though I didn't realise I was doing it.

Once on holiday in Wales he ran up to a sheep, thinking that it would run away.....boy was he in for a surprise. This psycho-sheepy butted him and stared him down. The 'hard man' that George was, he ran behind me and proceeded to bark loudly. I was both disgusted at his softy stance and tickled pink at his hiding behind his 'dad' for protection.

I will miss him. He died in my arms with me telling him how much I loved him and how much he was a good boy.

RIP mate, you were the best dog I ever owned.

Thankyou all for reading this post.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

My heart goes out to you.

Losing a beloved family pet is a hard, hard thing. It leaves quite an extraordinary hole in one's life.

I hope you continue to console yourself with the memories of happy times.

Crazy how much we love our pets huh. My cat died a few months ago at the age of 20, she was there as long as I can remember.

    good luck.

You're cat was 2 year old? That old for a cat, really.

Anyway, I'm sorry to here that. I've had several pets too, and a lot of them died. (cars).

    R.I.P. George.

I hate August. On the 16th of August 2002, my dog died. Linda, 14 years old, was mother of about 10 puppies, all of them are away except 1, which I kept.

I always when a pet dies.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

sorry to hear about it, InsaneApache. So far, I've been spared this. My oldest cat is 17 (or 18 ? can hardly remember) years old now.
Therapy helps, but screaming obscenities is cheaper.

    Good boy, George.

I'm glad to hear you were able to be with him in his final moments as hard as that must have been for you. I'm sorry for your loss IA, but I'm happy that you had such a good companion for 12 years. Thanks for sharing a little bit about him. Do you have a picture of George you'd be willing to post?
