Your Savaran are quite good, though I don't think the Gyanavspa were commoners. From my understanding, all Savaran were nobles of some sort.
Also I was under the impression that the Sassanians only starting using shields in a later period.

If you should stand then who's to guide you?
If I knew the way I would take you home."

Can any of the team confirm If this mod is discontinued/abandoned?
If so could you please put together what you have made so far,
upload it and provide me with a link to the download,
someone else may well take it up at a later time
If this mod has moved to a dedicated site please provide me with a link.
four months is a long time to go "quiet" in the community
(considering there is no "beta" version that people can play)
many thanks

It is with regret that I now announce the closure of Imperia Romana.
Lesten and myself took over as heads of IR in January, and although there has been slow but steady progress since then, we became unhappy with the modification for BI for a number of reasons.
Like most of the projects currently on TWC, the core group became very small. There were somewhere in the region of 52 people listed as developers, but for a period of time there was just myself, Lesten and Phate still actively working on the mod.
In April we suffered a series of technical problems (actually we tend to refer to it as ‘cursed April’). Lesten’s PC died first. Mine then followed suit, and just as we had both spent a lot of money we weren’t expecting to have to pay out, the Imperia Romana board suffered a terminal database failure which couldn’t be fixed. Phate also had an x-box malfunction but it didn’t really affect us. Needless to say all of this brought the whole thing to a standstill for about six weeks. Losing that momentum was hard to get over.
The input from our researchers prior to that happening, and our own developing understanding of the whole ‘Barbarian Invasion’ timeline caused us to be frustrated at not being able to represent the peoples and factions of that time adequately. The ‘clone’ armies of BI just doesn’t sit well with the late Roman era. Constantly we were deciding ‘should this unit wear chain mail?’ or ‘should they be hairy and un-armoured?’ or ‘should they have bits of roman equipment or not?’ Very few of the planned factions had a ‘uniform’ appearance, including the Romans. In BI if one soldier wears armour; his whole squad has to wear armour. The look just never felt right. This wouldn’t be quite so crucial in a different period.
With IR, we inherited some political issues, most of which were from before we even joined. Although this didn’t have a huge impact on what we were doing, from a morale point of view it was a bit crappy.
At this juncture I would like to offer a public apology to Attila Reloaded. Although I stand by everything I said in a statement a few months ago, I realise that things have been said in the past which were hurtful and unnecessary, and for those I am genuinely sorry. I also know full well that had we taken you up on your offer of mixing and matching your unit’s with ours and Lusted’s that we would have been much further forward with IR by the time the curse of April was upon us. As you said at the time; it was our loss.
There was also a feeling of pressure with IR, seeing as it appeared to have had half of the membership of TWC as developers at one time or another. To be honest, it never really felt like our mod, despite there being only one member of the original team still active. Taking over as joint directors, the IR board was like a big house full of the ghosts of past modders.
Last month, while still working on the map and various units, we finally made the difficult decision to end it.
We apologise to everyone who has been waiting for IR, but it really was time to shoot the poor old horse through the head. I’d also like to thank everyone for the positive comments over the past few months… and blow a huge raspberry to the negative few.
We have had a few requests for different elements of IR to be released or given. Unfortunately we cannot do that as we aren’t sure just how much we will be using in the current project. The traits system is not completed and is integral to IR, and as it’s still technically a work in progress, Lesten quite rightly doesn’t wish to part with it just yet. The completed models and skins will be upgraded and (where possible) converted into the M2 format. Having seen a brief video preview of an early version of M2, we do not currently know if the map will be useful to us at a later date.
