"It would appear we live in moumentous times.
The Kings of Europe would do well to heed the lessons learnt by the ourselves and his highness, the King of Spain - war only brings death, despair and destruction. The honourable resolution of our difficulties enable both countries to flourish and bring civilisation and the word of God to the New World. Words and sharp intellect achieve so much more than the dull instrument of the sword.
We announce the following:
We will send representation to the meeting of Protestant nations.
We graciously accept the invitation of the Spanish King to his Christmas celebrations and thank him for his splendid invitation. Moreover, we call upon the Kings of Europe to use this opportunity to resolve their difficulties and prevent the scourge of war stalking the continent.
As a nation with nothing to gain from a conflict in Central Europe, I offer my services in any negociations to prevent such a catastrophe."
