My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.
I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.
Who are you playing as ?

machine parts are something you will not be able to buy for quite a while.I think you will need to research them first inorder to openly buy them in the market.
Your best bet is to build somethink that sells well, like wine, beer or steel.
This way you get loads of money to expand your industry,
Also how long have you been playing, I only played as Prussia once and gave it up as something to look at a lot later....

...Take Shade's Advice. Prussia...is hard...**** hard for beginners, and I found myself thoroughly disgusted at how bad of a player I really am at Vicki about a month and a half ago.
I think for beginners, Belgium would be your best bet, not too much micromanagement involved. But enough to keep your interest peaked.
As Prussia concentrate on Furniture (later, luxury Furniture), explosives, fertiliser, steel, fabric, clothes and canned food, small arms and artillery. Not only do they all reach a good price on the marked, but also will allow you to import everything else you need to keep your POPs happy. Like precious metals or tobacco.
You should also produce wine and liquors as you have both POPs and resources capable, and do not desestimate railroads, iron and timber. But Prussia's main export is war. Do not forget that and don't let those small german counties think otherwise.

I would suggest just playing around a bit until getting the hang of the game. This worked for me. Now the British Empire is blissfully magnificent, with vast swathes of Africa, chunks of the Germans places, Mexico, USA, and China alongside the usual business. France and Prussia are paying War Indemnities. Several German States are Satellites.
It was not theirs to reason why,
It was not theirs to make reply,
It was theirs but to do or die.
