I've always loved the Turkish fan's passion, and getting so excited about Vassell just shows how passionate they are. I wonder if Fergie could be the man to get Owen thinking about football again and not about his racehorses. If anyone can turn it around it's SAF.

Go get him! Cana gone from Marseille, Benzema* gone from Lyon. Suits me just fine!

*To Real Madrid. Where I expect him to fail miserably to crowds crying for a return of Van Nistelgoal.
Madrid is working on Ribéry too. Should be exciting. One, at least I, can't help but be fascinated by Madrid's style. Ronaldo-Kaka-Ribéry, what a line-up. So very impressive. I love the glamour of it all. Football needs fantasy and spectacle too, and Pérez knows how to provide it.

How did he manage to pass the medical?!

Edit: The brochure is hilarious. Man U fans.... Owen'd.

But, to be honest I think he'll do fairly well. He won't have a key role, more of a back-up. And the medical staff at Man U are much better than their Newcastle counter-parts.

Edit: Seems Ade has produced his own brochure.

Considering the Injuries he had at Newcastle, 30 goals in 79 games, and considering the poor qaulity of service he had there compared to what he would have at United...

Think he could be a pretty good back up striker for us.... If he stays fit...

Newcastle players always seems to suffer from injuries for some reason... the place is a curse im sure...

Also, Red Nose will have in mind that he has big forwards in the likes of Wellbeck and Marcheda. So a small forward with a good eye for goal gives him some more options tactically.

Rumour has it that their training grounds are too hard, which causes muscle, joint and ligament injury.

Seems Fiorentina want €20m + Eboue for Melo, are they high? Seriously. €20m is way to much in the first place, and Eboue, as frustrating as he is, is a decent utility player.

Edit: Ross Turnbull to the Chavs!

Cana has signed for Sunderland, should be a great signing as we really lacked any bite in midfield last season.

If Portugal is noteworthy on its ability to produce world-class defenders (Ricardo Carvalho is just the most recent in a line of great players as the like of Fernando Couto, Carlos Secretário, etc) and midfielders (I'd venture to say that Sporting is the greatest academy in the world, producing World Players of the Year like Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo over the timeframe of less than a single decade), it is also noteworthy for its lack of top-class forwards.

Nothing that competes with Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch or English forwards, the best forward Portugal has had over the past decade was Pauleta, though a very good forward himself, it isn't quite up to par with other world class forwards. Even so, Pauleta has already retired, and ever since, Portugal has been without a reference to lead the attack on the opposing box. Hugo Almeida had been picked by Queiroz to be the successor of Pauleta, but to be honest, I think he is more of a defender for opposing teams than a forward for Portugal.

However, this is about to end as Queiroz has given his consent for the speeding up of the nationalization process of Sporting fast striker, Liedson. Hailed as the best forward acting in the Portuguese Liga for years, he is now about to join the Portuguese national team and end the goal drought that has plagued Portugal since Pauleta left. It is a great argument for the qualifying of Portugal to the World Cup, and Liedson is likely to cause serious damage to opposing defences as he has already done so in Portugal and in the Champions League.

Tim Borowski is back at Bremen! Maybe we'll be able to fill that tiny Diego-sized hole in our midfield after all!

Woah, let's not insult Almeida too much! Sure he frustrates me on occasion when he plays for Bremen, but he's got quite a hammer,

It's the practical view of his exhibitions in the national side. He sucks. And that's the general opinion around here. His dribble sucks, he sucks at heading (Don't think he scored a header yet, for Portugal. He does manage to get many harmless headers, which makes him a primary candidate of opposing defender), he sucks at finishing (His goals are usually a lost ball that ends up in his feet), he sucks at having pace or technique or composure for a forward (At least when he plays for Portugal). He is completely useless for a forward here. I'd adapt him to defender to see if he was on any use.

EDIT: Of the 20 caps he already has. he has only scored four goals against incredible hard sides like: Arzebaijan, Armenia, Malta and Albania.

At 78 games for Werder with 25 goals he's done a bit better for Werder, especially if you consider that last season he was brought on late in the game.

I like Cana. BUT, Sunderland is notorious for failed signings. Look how much they spend every season, and look how much of that is wasted. If a "bigger" club didn't go for him at such a low price, it raises many red flags. Still, should be a good signing.

Yep, Keane wasted an absolute fortune on mediocre players over the last few years. I was glad to see the back of him, some of his buys beggared belief to be honest, £9 mil on an average goalkeeper, £5 mil on Chopra. Crazy.
