I predict Shoryuken this time. Makalele can do it, I guess.Originally Posted by Louis VI the Fat
Brace yourself, Belguim. There is a reeson we played to a draw against England...
If Eire could get a win versus Germany, that would be a great upper after the loss to Holland.

I would be inclined to call that game a fluke.

Wow, the West Ham have signed Tevez and Mascherano. A little bit suss, if you ask me.
Should be interesting to watch, though. They're great players and I'm glad they're in the Premiership.

Well, the matches are almost upon us, so I might offer up predictions, if only to
allow myself to laugh later at some surprising results. These are not necessarily
the scorelines I would like to see - I hasten to add - but rather what I think
would be the likely outcome in each case. Of course, I would be disappointed
if there is not one upset in this opening round of fixtures.
[If anyone could offer up sites where we might watch highlights, it would be
appreciated.]

I agree with BKS on signing of such great players like Tevez and Mascherano by West Ham. IMO, they were the best shots of the deadline transfers. From now on, West Ham is one of my surprise challengers in Premier League.
Soon I'll make my predictions of the day.

Its a pity for them that Ashton broke his ankle - this was looking like a breakout season for him. Still waiting for details to emerge on that transfer though, lots of wild speculation as whether West Ham actually own the 2 players, or their agents...

Going to watch Germany v the Republic now.
[They played well, and were unlucky to concede a heavily deflected goal.
Anyway, most results added now.]
Time for France to do the business, Louis.

I think the Euro Cup people are idiots! They put Azerbajain and Armenia in the same group. What the hell? That is like putting Serbia and Bosnia together. I have spent neerly haf of my life (and still am) fitting Azerbajain and now they expect us to play football? Not the britest people, they are. Yes, West Ham got great deels, but I am reelly eksited about Chelsea getting Ashley Cole. Good hing we dumped Gallas... Whyner.

IA, this is no politics. This is football. We are several times seeded with Greece in the same group. And that was absolutely a very nice way to come together rather than the primitive perception of it being a war.
What's more, Azerbaijani people are true friends of Turks -they are as bright as the Armenians, if not brighter. Racism is out of bounds here, mister.
I don't get how frequently you put up your nation-oriented hate lately. But please be aware that this was a friendly warning.

Left Eye Nine, I am not hating the country. I am saying that the common people will not seperate Football and Politics. I am not being nationalist. Please do not label me. If I somehow sounded hateful, I apologise but I would like to know if anyone else thinks I was being hateful. Why? I was talking about the Fifa people, not Azerbajainis. So before you juge me, pleese make sure you have everything cleer. When have I been Nationalist recently? I admit, coming from such a small and old country, I was born nationalist, but I have kept it in control on these forums. I do not meen offense, just hear me out.
No, I did not catch the game, but Eire did give you Germans a run for your money.

West Ham getting Tevez and Mascareno is brilliant for them, but very scary for the rest of us :P
I'm not sure is the Cole deal was good for us, if Gallas settles in as replacement then it was, but theres a risk that he wont, and we'l be back to using our 3rd best left back
Some qualifiers are political (like Israel being counted as european to avoid playing football against the rest of the middle east) anyway, sometimes rivalry makes better football matches,

I don't think Arsenal made a clever move by swapping Cashley Cole for Gallas and a few million either. Chelsea will benefit more from this deal.
Gallas is great, he really is. But there's no shortage of great centre backs, like there is for great left backs.
And unlike Arsenals foreign legion, Chelsea now has a core of English players, which should be the objective of all Premiership teams.
Chelsea has now Terry, Lampard, Cole (Ashley and Joe). I think the secret is the blend of non-English and English Players. I think Carvallho is one of the smartest players in the game today, which is a great asset to Chelsea.

we cant help it if all the english players go elsewhere, and i think Arsenal do have a few english players on loan (although in honesty they are all reserves and youth)Originally Posted by Louis VI the Fat
we could do with an experienced centre back to help out, i also think gallas can play left def if needed? - if not every other player on our team can (why not leave it to flamini, i agree he did very well last season)

Well, well, the initial prediction proved to be spot on.
France beats Italy 3 - 1
Upset: Northern Ireland beats Spain 3 - 2
