Thread: Gameplay problems

    Question Gameplay problems

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this, but it is one of the few places I can start a new thread. Anyway I am playing MTW VI, running Windows XP, Nvidea GeForce4 MX 4000, DirectX 9, pentuim III 1 GHZ, 384 MB ram, 13 GB free space. Problem: during battles, no matter how small the armies, I have horrible lag. I have made sure accelaration is on full and display on 16 bit(advice from another forum) , have tried reinstalling the game numerous times, reinstalled directx, reinstalled video drivers, downloaded patches, and defraged my drive. NOTHING WORKED!! I have had this game for many years and have uninstalled and reinstalled it many times and never had any problems. The only thing I can think of that has changed since it was last installed (and working) is I switched from DSL to Cable. I did not have to install anything for the cable modem, it is plug and play, so that shouldn't matter, right? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Im not much of a tech guy, but i would suggest a Defrag and a good Virus scan. A disk cleanup wouldn't hurt either probably. I'm sure someone else here can help you more than me.

Well I tried the virus scan and disk cleanup. No luck. I already tried a defrag and that did not help. I just uninstalled MTW VI and reinstalled only MTW and I still have the same problem. This is really lame, I have a huge battle waiting in my campaign but with the lag it would take hours to play. Any other suggestions??

Try updating your video drivers, the game should work well with those specs, i used to play it with much less.

With MTW and your hardware, the most compatible video card drivers are v61.77 (or earlier), which can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_61.77.html

Give them a try, and see if your issues don't improve.

IT WORKS!! v60.85 ended up working the best. It is still not perfect but it is playable. Thanks for the information. I was getting very frustrated. You saved me from going to an asylum. Thanks again.

Good going, Matador - glad to hear you're back in business again!
