"Reports indicate that more than 200 Taliban fighters have been killed since Operation Medusa began early Saturday morning. This figure was arrived at by reviewing information from ISAF surveillance and reconnaissance assets operating in Panjwayi and Zhari districts as well as information reported by various Afghan officials and citizens living nearby," it said.

More than 80 suspected Taliban fighters were captured by Afghan police and a further 180 insurgents were seen fleeing the district, the statement said.

NATO said there were no reports of civilian casualties, despite the heavy weight of fire being used.

It is a good deal. The progressive Islamic Front can call all opposition Taliban.

Well I'm not sure how killing people is good news, I just hope what where doing there will cause good things to happen. It has always bothered me though that a week central government is shown as a sign of lack of progress. That's how Afganistan runs. It's like the HRE of high Asia.

It is nice to see that there is at least a few scenarios without civilian casualties.

The Great White Oil Crusaders killing 200 Muslims is not "good news" nor something that should be celebrated.

I read the other day that the rules of engagement are back to official "at war" status in Afghanistan, if so a successful offensive with no reported civilian casualties is about as good as it gets.

200 people died. Probably most of them pretty young. "Good" news?

That's a shocking photo - where did you get it, is it real and what does it show?

It's even better in motion. Just do the google, 'taliban execution' It's from this lovely place, the stadium where Taliban showed women what mutual respect is all about.

In the upper left corner you see another exotic take on sports, it's called 'give them a hand'.

rascals.

I understand what you're trying to say Fragony, but I cannot consider the death of 200 young people as good news.

The death of this woman (I assume it's an execution) nor the death of those 200 can be seen as "good". It are all meaningless deaths. A waste of human lives.

I still love you though

200 enemies who would otherwise be trying to kill our boys being killed is good news and should be celebrated as a successful operation, just a pity about our 4 dead.

What makes you think it's an execution, he is just setting up a tent. He actually won that year for being the fastest, with the best ventilation

There is so much wrong with that statement it amazes me. Killing people is never a particularly good thing, but sometimes it is necessary.

That's a 10 for cynecism. It is good news as it is an operation with minimum casualties and little to no collateral damage. It means the war is going well, at least on that front. Contrast this with Iraq and some of the stuff the Americans get up to and this is a fairy tale by comparison.

The fact that the entire war is bad news is besides the point.
