Default Just got the Total War Eras and have a question

Ok, right now I'm going to be playing Shogun total war because feudal japan is for right now my area of interest. My question is, who historically speaking what era should I play first, what clan ultimately won, and is there any basic history i should know beforehand?

Do you think the Golden Rule should apply to masochists as well?

I believe the 1550 scenario is most accurate. Historically the Oda won the war (Nobunaga and then Hideyoshi) and united Japan, however Hideyoshi was unable to provide a capable Heir and Tokugawa Ieyasu took over and ruled for ages. The basic history is done pretty well in the intro to the sengoku jidai campaign, and in the historical battles and campaigns.

Hmmm... I'm reading a history called Great Ages of Man Early Japan, by Jonathan Norton Leonard and it seems I've just left the Heian Golden age where the emperors power was finally ended by provincial barons. Are these the Daimyo in this game or were there others then?

I'm in the 11th century now so I think I don't really need to play historically. Do I? What would you suggest is the easiest clan to be?

    Hi Derfasciti, and welcome here

I'd say, for an easy campaign: Period - Sengoku Jidai, Clan - Uesugi. And of course, difficulty 'Easy'. Here's a little advice on the start of the campaign.. ** Move your army from Sado (north) into Dewa. Move your troops from Hida and Echigo into Shinano first turn to defend it from the Imagawa Clan. Take the high hill on the left on the region, have your archers spend all their arrows on the enemy Yari samurai, and charge down the mountain with all your men when the enemy gets close. Second turn, move the 1 (possibily damaged) ashigaru unit from Shinano back into Hida. Move the army in Dewa into echigo. Continuously create archers in Mutsu, spend the rest of your koku into your economy. (farms in mutsu, dewa and echigo, and/or mines in echigo and dewa.) Get your emissary to create alliances with the takeda, oda, mori and shimazu if possible. As soon as you can, invade the Hojo territory. Preferably first Hitachi, then Shimosa.**

    Good luck!!
