I guess professor already covered it.. Though, just as a note, Sarmatians may fail you in hard situations. But, you won't notice that against the current AI you face in TW, so Sarmatian Auxilia all the way..

"Cry, the beloved country, for the unborn child that is the inheritor of our fear. Let him not love the earth too deeply. Let him not laugh too gladly when the water runs through his fingers, nor stand too silent when the setting sun makes red the veld with fire. Let him not be moved when the birds of his land are singing, nor give too much of his heart to a mountain or a valley. For fear will rob him of all if he gives too much."
Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton.
Little use for the ERE, either. By the time you can get them, you can also get Cats and Clibs, both of which mow through nearly everything.
Scholae Palatinae, as has been said, provide variety, but that's about it.
Hmm. Well, looks like I'll have to do some modding to make them have a purpose in the game, then. Thanks for the replies,

Just give them a badge that says, 'I am Special'. Like all special people, that will make them feel good and like they have a purpose in life.

I know they have slightly worse stats but what's the secondary attack?
The fact that the Sarmatae are only slightly better than the Germanic Barb Cav is the stupid thing. If the Barb Cav were worse you'rd have a purpose for the Shcolae.

Neither have secondary attacks, unless playing dead after being hit by a spear counts.
