Well it is a jumpy time at the moment... It is a bit of a ridiculous situation but Im sure the praying could have been put back a couple of hours and Im sure the lurching wasnt necessary either.
There is enough blame for all parties to go around, the air lines lack of sensitivity and the jewish persons lack of lack of timing for starters.
Are jews not capable of fundementalist acts?
"England expects that every man will do his duty" Lord Nelson
"Extinction to all traitors" Megatron
"Lisa, if the Bible has taught us nothing else, and it hasn't, it's that girls should stick to girls sports, such as hot oil wrestling and foxy boxing and such and such." Homer Simpson
Maybe if the Hasidic Jew had physics training he would understand that praying has no effect on the lift mechanism of air having to flow further over the topside of a wing. His prayer was insulting the workmanship of the manufacturers and the abilities of the aero-engineers.
Seriously, flight freaks a lot of people out and if it makes someone feel a little bit more in control and hence comfortable they should be allowed all the illusions of such that prayer provides. So let him have his prayers and let the kids have their teddy bears.
I do believe that most people who are going to pray for a safe flight would do it when they are on the plane, and ready to takeoff.Originally Posted by lancelot
This "lurching" which apparently did not bother passengers according to a passenger but rather a flight attendent who then made the claim that other passengers were getting "nervous" is a quite common Jewish practice. Shokeling anyone?
This is where our viewpoints are irreconcilable. I do not hold the Jewish passenger at all responsible for his prayer, nor do I think it "untimely". It's quite natural to pray right before a plane is about to take off.Originally Posted by lancelot
An irrelevant point as this person certainly is innocent of any "fundamentalist" (never heard this term used in this way before; maybe "extremist" or "terrorist") acts. Besides, any adherent to any ideology is capable of criminal/violent acts...Originally Posted by lancelot
Maybe if Papewaio would remember that the plane is at the mercy of nature, which in Orthodox Judaism is in the control of God, he would not jump to such sarcastic remarks.Maybe if the Hasidic Jew had physics training he would understand that praying has no effect on the lift mechanism of air having to flow further over the topside of a wing. His prayer was insulting the workmanship of the manufacturers and the abilities of the aero-engineers.
What kind of Occasionalist is he anyway...?![]()
But then again, let him deny this and rely simply on the limited venue of sensory perception for his paradigm...![]()
I'll be trenchantly acerbic to one and all, particularly to those I like. It's part of my belief system to question everything, so stop oppressing my thought system!
And that limited sensory input (ignoring all the rigour of logic, stats, maths, error checking and experiments which extend it) lead to the internet and man made flight... it is referred to as man made not gawd made after all.![]()
