    Default Tiresias

"And God asked Tiresias wich sex he enjoyed the most, the male or the female. The blind Theban prophet asured that he enjoyed nine times more as a woman."

This comes from a blog called "Disforia de Géneros" ("Dysphoria of genres"). Here I translate it (just in case, a woman wrote this, I say this because it has some explicit sexual connotations and I don't want everyone looking at me )

    A COMENTARY ABOUT RELIGIONS

    (...)

Having a body with an identity of genre and genitalia different from the identity created in the process of congenit development and the following brain biochemestry, has some axiological meaning from the point of view of the christian morality?

This meaning has some impact on the doctrine of the christian religion or does it affects only technical precepts of the Church? -refered to the Catholic Apostolic Roman Church.

If the SHB (Syndrome of Harry Benhamin), our condition, is not a sin, the implications are many and varied, and if it's a sin then the contradictions would be seemingly interesting.

Let's see... the identity of the biochemestry in my brain is feminine, and the identity of the psichocultural processes, influenciated by the psysics of mi body and its hormonal composition, is masculine...

What part of me is sining, the woman who doesn't accept her masculine conditions; or the physical man who thinks it's feminine, or are both sining?

When I'm sining, when I imagine myself as a woman in a man's body, or when, as a man, I act as a woman?

God knows my condition and accepts it, or is it just an accident of natural origin? If God knows and doesn't accepts it, why wouldn't he change it and where's the sin? If he accepts it, why am I sining? If it's of natural origin then why I'm sining?

If taking female hormones is a sin, then menopausic womans should confess for following the treatment? If receiving a plastic surgery is a sin, operating your nose or your genitalia has the same value, or isn't it reproducing as valuable as breathing? Even more, breathing is vital, reproducing no...

If I married a biological woman, wheter I know of my condition or not. Does God know that my marriage is valid? And if it's valid, then the Church does allows marriage between people of the same genre, if one of them seems to be of a different genre? If the marriage in escense is invalid, the priest didn't interpret the will of God, and therefor only united the marriage as man, and therefor it's a process of fornication?

If I've sex with my spouse. Am I in a lesbic relation; or am I accomplishing the rol of my genre, of my body and hormonal system? To make love and not sin should I make it without thinking?

If with my eyes of man I see my female identity on the mirror and I say "how pretty". I'm wishing the woman of my fellow man? If a woman wishes my masculine body and I realize this from my female identity. Is she wishing the woman of her fellow woman?

If God made me at his image. Is the Holy Spirity his femenine identity? If I'm not made at the image of God, I'm still her daughter? If I'm not her daughter, I'm subject to the same moral precepts of his sons? Would I belong the world of the angels and the fairies? The angels and the fairies sin?

If God doesn't care about the physical, and if he only cares about the escense, then before him I'm a woman, and the acts I carry on with my body are dissociated from my femenine escense. Could my masculine body be condemned, saving my female escense? In the Otherlife would I be female or male? Would I be dysphoric again in the Otherlife and have the whole eternity to make transcition or suffer? The Day of Judgement. Would I be saved with my body and soul transcitionated, or making that transcition is wasting time in this life?

My soul is femenine or masculine, or it doesn't knows of genre nor sexuality? If the soul is asexuated and in it we find the will and the trascitional sense towards our salvation. What the body does doesn't count?

    (...)
A while ago there was a discussion on genre, choice of sexuality and homosexuality. I decided to present it from a religious perspective of a person who suffers of one of this conditions wich many say are either eligible or a sin. The gloss of the myth of Tiresias serves as an opening to the subject, Tiresias was punished with ambiguity... But what do you think are the answers to this questions?

(I hope you are not saying that my translation is the problem... )
Well, at least you answered me L. This is something pretty simple actually. Sometime ago, in a discussion wich involved many names (Navaros included), the subject came out. Talking about people who suffered from this kind of conditions (like SHB), trying to convince the other that it was a desease or a choice. Anyway I only tried to present it from the point of view of a person who actually suffers from this desease (choice?) showing her delussions, her doubts and wishes, and of course religion always plays an important part on this. I think that solving those contradictions and stablishing what's right and wrong could actually help the human progress a lot...

Is this like that male lesbian thing? It's a "condition" written by some obscure Florida professor (with no doubt a few conditions of her own) that some people can be a woman trapped inside of a man’s body. I believe it was used to exclude some guys from sexual harassment suits; because suing them for it would be anti-homosexual (homophobic :gasp: or something, which is bad (especially if they’re lesbians) .

...I like women if thats what youre asking.
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

    Been to:

Swords Made of Letters - 1938. The war is looming in France - and Alexandre Reythier does not have much time left to protect his country. A novel set before the war.

A Painted Shield of Honour - 1313. Templar Knights in France are in grave danger. Can they be saved?

I'd like to have someone like Saturnus to help me in this one but, anyway, this is a syndrome called syndrome of Henry Benjamin (as noted above), I don't know anything about that Florida professor. And this is exactly what I wanted to know, people who say this is not a desease. If you're also a christian then you could tell me what are the answers to her questions.

That was from some wacko lib in the early 90's. I really don't care about the religious and moral applications. My faith isn’t that shaky or need for order so strong that this affects me in any way.
