You might be right about a Napoleonic shooter, but the ACW saw the widespread use of the rifle and ultimately ended with troops dug in, WW1 style, to try to limit its lethality. An ACW shooter is a pretty cool idea. And if occaisionally you have to advance in close formation, while everyone around you is getting shot to hell like at Fredricksburg or during Pickett's charge, that might even add to the attraction. (Think Saving Private Ryan...).
Hopefully they can get the close combat system so it isn't just the best button masher wins. That was were the battle were decide. The attacker usually closed as fast as possible to get out of the musket and canister fire.
