    A Moderator?

A moderator is an individual who volunteers to aid in the management of forums -- usually without any sort of payment whatsoever -- which includes enforcing rules, using judgements when appropriate, be aware that your every action will be interpreted as site policy to a point, participate in behind-the-scenes management discussions...all that for a little executive power. I doubt any except the most dedicated would be accepted, or should, for that matter.

You are a member already, no? Which forums can't you get access to? I'm a member and I can go to any forums I want except for the hidden ones, which are only the ones for modders of the specific mods anyway.

There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

I think alot of people want to be a moderator. You have to fill out and application before you can do anything.

There are certain things that severely decrease your chances of getting a position as Assistant Moderator. Such things include recieving warnings, being rude or profane, not contributing to the forum... and making threads like these.
A public request for moderatorship without understanding what a moderator does is definately no way of going about it. If you believe you want to be a moderator because you want to "lock threads" or because it's cool, you are definately not a good candidate.

To be a moderator, you must be active, mostly in the forum you want to moderate.
Make a written request to Tosa or the moderator in charge of said forum (keyword here is chain of command) via Private Message, explaining how you can contribute to the forum and why you want to be a moderator.
The more detailed you are, the better. Also, and this is the single most important factor, there has to be an opening for a new moderator. If everything is running smoothly, there is no need to add more staff. If it's not broken, dont fix it.
Lastly, being promoted from Member to Moderator is like going out with Paris Hilton and not looking like a fool. It cant happen. Almost everyone starts out as an Assistant Moderator, under the command of a Moderator. These AMs, like me, have very limited powers. We cant even edit unless it's granted to us. We are the Public Relations to the senior staff's Administration. And, again I stress, it's only when there is a need of staff.

    Hope this helps

Interviewing CA Staff is not a job description of moderators. All we do is maintain the forums and make sure people stay in line. What we do in our own time is up to us, such as making newsletters and such. Any normal member can do that. Just as any normal member can spread the word about the Org or Total War itself. The only official duties we do is make sure the forums we moderate are clean and working in fuctional order.

Very well put, kekvitirae. Just one addition: it is possible to go directly from member to moderator, but usually a senior member or assitant-moderator is prefered.

Supreme Shogun, we don't need another moderator right now, but thank you for offering to help us out.
