I agree. It's a disgrace that some states in the US still have 14 as the age of consent. No way is your average 14yr old emotionally prepared for that responsibility.

I think it's a good idea. It gives the us the power to imprison adults who go after 14 and 15 year olds. I have no problem with protecting the kids.

But the law does allow a five year age gap for young people to fool around. So if the girl is 14 and her boyfriend is 19( ?), it may be a bit odd, but it's not illegal.

I think its a good idea but the five year thing should be more like 2, maybe three years. A 19yr old should not be allowed to be with a 15yr old.

Good law in my opinion. We must have law that will protect our teens from some adults. Or give tool to the autorities. Anyway it wont hurt to have it.


I'm very satisfy of the Conservative governement so far. The only things they did that have bother me, is the inconditional support to Israel during the Lebanon crisis, dropping an history of Canadian neutrality there. But beside that, they have fullfill most of their promises so far(the ones made for the families especially) . Its been a while since a politician have impress me that much. Unless a major screw up, Harper will have my vote again. Too bad for those who predict that the Canadian army would patrol the street of our cities under the Conservative....

I support this law, a five year age gap is huge at that age.

Back when I was 14 a lot of us were saying how ridiculous our age of consent of 16 was, now that I'm older, I say it should stay there. An age bracket would be an improvement, but even then, I'd say it only needs to be 2-3 years.

Nope that's always been there. Also it's an unofficial right of passage for a Canadian girl to have 1 boyfriend be twice there age, the only one I know of who hasn't is my sister. Hell my mom had a 20 yearold boyfriend when she was 14.

Obviously not, as with pot smoking and alcholol consumption, sex is what a teenager likes a lot, simply making it illegal wont stop them by no means, if anything we should be handing out free contraception to stop unwanted pregnancies.
