Hey guys, Im just wondering if anyone knows how this will work in M2. Will it be the same system as in RTW/BI or will it be more like the system from M1 where the mercs moved without being seen from province to province. ??

Being a junior member is annoying since I can't start a topic for this and I really don't want to hijack this one.
But I wonder if it will be worth buying MTW 2 immediately. Knowing the difference that the patches made to Rome Total War, I wonder if it would be wise to wait a few months.

The demo comes out soon which will be a good indicator of what the game will be like. If you're still unsure, I would give it a few days to see what the vets have to say on the game. I doubt it will be as buggy/flawed as RTW as this is built on the same engine so hopefully a lot of the quirks will have been ironed out. Of course it will need patching, all games do, but I'm hopeful it will be playable OOB, as MTW was.

The Entrance Hall is for junior members to start topics like this. There was one similar one recently (wait for M2TW or buy RTW).

I think that screenie is actually for Crusader recruitment, not mercenaries. It looks like a screen-shot taken from the video on crusades & religion.

Mercenary recruitment is similar to the crusader units recruitment. You can see: "Mercenary units available for hire" and also "Selected Mercearies". Nowhere is pointed the word "crusader" (or similar)... This is my opinion anyway...

You are right I think and it is probably the same thing... Rather than having a different recruitment method crusaders just get to recruit some unique (for the crusading army that is) mercenaries on the cheap; in the picture one wagon thing and one unit of cav are 40 (florins?)...

May be this is crusader bonus or just something which will be fixed...

I believe that it is a good thing that you can recruit unique crusade units, however is there a way of telling if the "mercenaries" are local mercenaries or crusader units?
Perhaps you can get mercenaries only for a certain faction, and the amount of those unique 1 faction units become more vast as you conquer more lands?
sounds kind of silly but that could be the situation
Well I'll be, i had no idea we were going to have even a taste of it near this date.
what do you think underdog?

I think Crusades will be able to recruit very cheap merc units, including unique crusader units - which is a very nice touch because one can now choose which unique units show up at your crusade. Furthermore, this system allows a crusade to march along its way while recruiting more people.
i agree, on gamespot (.com) the M2:TW preview's on there are great, it has 3 official trailer that give you a basic insight into battle, settlements and religion
